One would think those who worry about immigration because out little island is becoming over-crowded would be jumping up and down about this disincentive for the elderly to emigrate.
For the same reason it is unfair on all indigenous (and particularly, the poorest) citizens of this country to face an ever deceasing standard of life by accepting an open borders policy to immigration, it is equally unfair on indigenous citizens if significant sums of money can be taken out of the collective coffers by elderly state pensioners. That money, if it is spent in the UK, goes back into those collective coffers to be recycled

I don't think anyone wants to pressurise elderly people to emigrate.

The reason it depends upon the country relates to international agreements.

Your State Pension will only increase each year if you live in:

the European Economic Area (EEA)
Switzerland
countries that have a social security agreement with the UK (but you can’t get increases in Canada or New Zealand)
You won’t get yearly increases if you live outside these countries.

Your pension will go up to the current rate if you return to live in the UK.

Remember Cologne New Year's Eve.

Gradually the truth spreads:

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/col ... 72566.html

Labye’s cameraman captured the absolute truth: footage shows white European males from overwhelmingly Christian Germany molesting her. Cologne was full of Caucasian drunks acting with the same kind of macho abandon which contributes to some half a million adults being sexually assaulted in England and Wales alone each year. ...
The refugee-as-rapist construct is the kind that has been used to demonise people throughout history. The idea is that you apply frightening characteristics to those you view as political enemies. ...
Merging racism into a wider discussion about law and order, feminism and even the future of the EU project does not make it any less objectionable. Brown men are not inherently more misogynistic or brutal than white men, and Muslims are just as likely to be family-orientated, peaceful citizens as their counterparts from other religious and cultural heritages. ...
Neo-Nazi groups such as Germany’s Pegida – an organisation becoming increasingly active in Britain – instead jump on the propaganda, using sacred half-truths about Cologne to spread hatred and violence.

You utter liar, Biff Vernon.

From the article:
Dark myths about sexual assaults in Cologne came into sharp focus last week when a female television journalist was attacked live on air. Esmeralda Labye, a reporter from Belgium, was covering the German city’s annual carnival when three men variously touched her breasts, kissed her and simulated intercourse behind her back.
So let's just have a recap of what you posted:

You have just linked to a story about a journalist who was groped LAST WEEK by 3 german white men. But you posted it with the words:
biffvernon wrote:Remember Cologne New Year's Eve.

Gradually the truth spreads:
You just deliberately tried to make out that the story was about the New Year's Eve, and that gradually the truth is spreading that immigrants weren't responsible.

Which is a TOTAL LIE.

Did anybody say that drunk white men don't sometimes grope women? No they didn't, Biff Vernon. What they said was that thousands of immigrants assaulted, robbed and raped western women on New Year's Eve. Which is exactly what happened.

Didn't your parents ever teach you that telling lies is bad?

Ah, but it is OK to tell lies when the lies involve protecting muslim immigrants from the consequences of raping and abusing white women, right?

And you wonder why people like you are being called "the regressive left"?

the independent wrote:Majority of suspects are of Algerian, Tunisian or Moroccan descent and none had recently arrived in Germany, police have reportedly said
Depends, of course, on what you mean by "recently".

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world ... 74201.html
the independent later in the same article wrote:On Monday, Mr Bremer dismissed how his remarks had been reported, saying that the overwhelming majority of those arrested "fall into the general category of refugees".
from another source wrote: The vast majority of suspects do not have permission to stay in Germany, but this is for different reasons, encompassing people whose asylum applications haven’t been accepted and illegal immigrants,” Bremer said.

He also said that the overwhelming majority of suspects arrived in Germany in 2015.

126 gang rapes 1054 crimes in total in cologne, this would take thousands of men to be involved .

We know that police released masses of men they detained on the night and they said most of the men were migrants .

If you have a biased police and they let go thousands of men guilty of crime, how can you believe the handful that are arrested represent the thousands that took part .

I think the media are trying to cover up and spin this story

Different media outlets are spinning the story into different directions. Not that they should.

I lost confidence in The Independent some time ago.

Lets not lose credibility by exaggerating. If there were 1054 crimes in total then you have maximum one thousand men involved not "Thousands" and more likely 300 as men engaging in such activity would commit more then one crime a night each.
The fact that more then a hand full of such crimes occurred on a single night and the perpetrators seem to feel entitled to such behavior is damming enough.

You're right about not exaggerating, but lets not undersell it either: given that the crimes were mostly committed by groups of men rather than individuals, then even if they did commit more than one it could still easily be in the thousands.

What I find most interesting is that only 58 people have been arrested for so many crimes. If there were 2000 people involved (for example), that would be less than 3% of them! Seems like being a criminal is a pretty safe occupation.

It is if you are not stupid or you have powerful friends. Notwithstanding the particular cultural issues underlying these particular crimes occurring in Europe at the moment, most criminals come from two extremes in society. The poor, ignorant and desperate or the rich, educated and greedy. Guess which ones tend to get caught?
