Dear Embrace the Revolution supporter,
We are writing to thank you for showing your support and signing up on the website for Embrace the Revolution, the campaign to challenge the myths about wind energy and to give a voice to the silent majority who support wind - but whose voices are rarely heard.
We would like to invite you to join us for the first ever, national celebration of wind during ?Wind Weekend? on 27-28 August 2005. Families across the UK will be able to visit working wind farms, take part in engaging, fun activities, touch turbines and discover the realities of a powerful working wind farm. Activities, including kite flying and windmill painting, promise lots of fun for those seeking entertainment during the last weekend of the school holidays.
You will be able to support the Wind Weekend celebration by:
- Bringing your friends and family along on the day
- Distributing the Wind Weekend leaflet
- Helping out on the day with activities such as fun workshops for children involving craft, art and music
- Acting as a media spokesperson
Wind farms opening across the country include:
1. Ardrossan, Ayrshire, South Scotland
2. Tappaghan, Northern Ireland
3. Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT), Machynlleth, Wales
4. Winscales, Cumbria, North England

Your opportunity to visit a wind farm and win a top prize
We?re inviting you all to join us at this year?s Wind Weekend which will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend, 26-28 August. Once again wind farms across the country will open their gates to members of the public to come and experience the power of the wind for themselves and find out more about the role of this exciting technology in our sustainable future. Also on offer is our new competition to win a year?s supply of electricity from a wind farm, and you can have your own competition to be energy efficient and make it last longer than a year!
Wind farms large and small will have a range of activities on offer, from face painting to turbine tours, with fun and entertainment for all the family. Over 6,000 people visited wind farms during Wind Weekend last August Bank Holiday, and 100% of visitors who filled in a questionnaire said that they had enjoyed their experience and would recommend it to others.

?We all have a part to play in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and getting electricity from wind energy is one way to do this. Wind Weekend is a perfect opportunity to support this free green fuel and find out how the power of the wind can make a difference."
Can you see the turbines?Turbine spotting
If you can?t find a flagship wind farm opening in your part of the country, then you can still join in the fun with our new turbine spotting competition. With 130 wind farms generating clean green electricity across the country, there?s a good chance you?ll be able to ?spot? one if you?re out and about over the Bank Holiday weekend. For example, did you know that you can ?spot? a couple of wind farms if you?re visiting the Angel of the North? Or that you can see offshore wind farms from the beaches at Herne Bay and Whitstable, Rhyl and Prestatyn, or Morecambe and Barrow? For a list of ?top spots? around the UK where you can safely pull off the road and see wind turbines from viewing points, car parks or lay-bys, see our recommended list of top turbine spots.

?I don?t care if there are cheaper forms of non renewable energy out there, their real impact is that these mesmerizing structures show that the energy industry is thinking about our futures. The Wind Weekend event in August is an opportunity for people to see how a wind farm works and to understand the crucial and exciting role wind power plays. So go on - get out and experience the technology for yourselves!?
