You need to chill out a bit, LJ!Little John wrote:As if anyone here has not already noticed, there is a major hatchet job now in full swing against Corbyn in the mainstream media, led as ever by the establishment toady that is the BBC. Some of it is subtle, some of it is crass in the extreme. But, it is clear that this is going to be a concerted propaganda push from the off. That being the case, we all need to be on our guards to rebut the bullshit at every turn both online and in the real world in our workplaces, in our homes etc, wherever and whenever we encounter it.
So far, the more unreasonable attacks there have been on Corbyn, the stronger he has become. There is no reason to believe this pattern will not continue.
I don't agree. There is the obvious crass nonsense in the red tops. But, more concerning is the insidious drip drip of propaganda coming from the likes of the Guardian and the BBC. Have you read the Guardian this morning or listened to this morning's Radio 4 Today programme?

We knew this was going to happen. What we don't know is whether it will be any more effective than all those attempts to discourage people from electing him leader.Little John wrote:I don't agree. The people Corbyn needs to vote for him don't read the Telegraph. Some of them do listen to Radio 4, but those individuals are exactly the sort of people who will respond to anti-Corbyn propaganda with an increased determination to vote for him.
It's too early to start panicking. Nobody knows what is going to happen apart from that large parts of the establishment and media are going to do everything in their power to try to undermine him. We knew that, he knew that, nothing has changed. And nothing will change until we see a few opinion polls and find out what the wider public think of him. If there's a big bounce for Labour then those who are trying to undermine him might well be forced to reconsider their strategy. They are doing exactly what Blair did, and it didn't work.

Toynbee has changed her tune and is telling people to back Corbyn.

Just watched the TUC speech, full 24mins on youtube. There's elements in there that you might hear coming out of other political leaders as rhetoric and spin, but coming from Corbyn it sounds passionate and genuine; all the rest is just refreshing good sense. I'm waiting for his position on population increase to be made clear; getting people out of bad situations, building schools and housing etc is ok, but what about the baby boom that might result? All in all i'm looking at this as a small flick of an underwater plate boundary causing a slight displacement of seawater far out to sea; come 2018,19,20 it's going to be a tsunami heading straight for the Tories. These sentiments and ideas are going to go viral and every labourer, bricklayer and van driver will mobilise to vote on them.

Something along those lines is possible, especially if the tories sign their own death warrant by going for all-out austerity (for the poor, not the rich, of course) for the next five years.mr brightside wrote: All in all i'm looking at this as a small flick of an underwater plate boundary causing a slight displacement of seawater far out to sea; come 2018,19,20 it's going to be a tsunami heading straight for the Tories. The whole thing is rather hard to predict though! I don't remember another time in my lifetime when the probable course of British politics was as unclear as it is right now. I just hope that Labour MPs are responsible enough to realise that if the people in their own constituencies believe in Corbyn's policies, then they should back him even if their own politics is somewhere further to the right.

Jeremy Corbyn is extreme left when he isn't really
Jeremy Corbyn is a threat to national security when he obviously isn't
Jeremy Corbyn only does jobs for the boys when his shadow cabinet has a majority of women in it
Jeremy Corbyn doesn't wear a red poppy when lots of people are sick of the way wearing one has turned into a mere mechanical gesture
Jeremy Corbyn didn't sing the national anthem and so what! A poverty-denier or non-singer of a very poor song lol
People are turning off and ignoring mainstream media. The BBC and co are continuing to make themselves irrelevant..

Jeremy Corbyn is a black swan event (if that's the right analogy). I wonder what future events will occur which are as equally unexpected?

I remember sitting in the house of commons with the left wing rebel group being quite visible and now a lot of them are on the front bench.
I thought his selling point was being on the left of the Labour Party.
Whether that is described as extreme or not is another question. He is, however, hard left.
In the end there are people like me who believe plans to print money to fund government spending are risky and can cause all sorts of havoc. I accept that many of the contributors here disagree with me on this, but a lot of people across the country agree with me.
