The UK's population hasn't tripled in 50 years.fuzzy wrote:What a crap article Biff. The climate hasn't changed in Yemen, Ethiopia and Somalia. They have just tripled their population in 50 years. A bit like the UK.
UK population in 1965: 54 million.
UK population in 2015: 65 million.
So having actually got our native population something like under control, why the f*** should we ruin everything by allowing unlimited immigration, especially given that those immigrants have a far higher birth rate than the natives?

It won't be accepted as normal in the places where the migrants are ending up. That doesn't just mean the UK. It means ALL of the places they are ending up, until there's nowhere left to migrate to. That is the new reality we are heading towards - the current situation is transitional state.biffvernon wrote:http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... ate-changeEllie Mae O'Hagan wrote:Mass migration is no ‘crisis’: it’s the new normal as the climate changes.

Thanks to climate change, overpopulation, resource depletion and conflicts exacerbated by all three of those.clv101 wrote:But it did in Russia (2010 heatwave). The associated hike in food prices contributed to a lot of the 'instability' we're seeing today.
Her key point is "Thanks to global climate change, mass migration could be the new normal." Which I think is spot on.
It's everything. The whole system is failing - ecological, economic and socio-political.

Although I agree with you in terms of not having limits on immigration there has been a lot of emigration from the UK.UndercoverElephant wrote:So having actually got our native population something like under control, why the f*** should we ruin everything by allowing unlimited immigration, especially given that those immigrants have a far higher birth rate than the natives?
Yes the economists always resort to a basic headcount of in/out when it suits their argument. There are mainly 2 groups that leave the UK :
Wealthy people moving to cheap locations taking UK money with them.
Talented young people who fit the entrance requirements of countries that don't allow you to flush your passport down the airport toilet and claim asylum.
Neither of these people compare to the swarm of legal and illegal migrants who can arrive here with 'restaurant worker' as an acceptable job title [in a racist asian only restaurant, obviously].
25 years ago I was talking to a friendly asian shopkeeper in Doncaster about the other asian taxi drivers in our street who never seemed for general public hiring, or do much taxi-ing anyway. They spent most of the day without their taxi plates driving their expensed audis about. I had just seen one in the dole que in front of me, and I was commenting to my friend. He let on that the Donny taxi drivers shared driving licences since many had none and no police is going to call their identity from a blurry dark bearded photo.
So please don't associate the exodus of Britain's cream with an influx of gaming moonbeam chasers, and their 'relatives'.

You can dislike both and to deal with the immigration problem you need to deal with the people who run the banking system, and not see them as in anyway your countrys friends.emordnilap wrote:http://themetapicture.com/as-funny-as-its-true/

As funny as that is, I don't think it is entirely fair E.emordnilap wrote:http://themetapicture.com/as-funny-as-its-true/
That pictures is basically implying that if one is for stronger immigration controls, one is too stupid to realise that high flying bankers are ripping us all off. It is actually possible to hold both thoughts in one's head simultaneolusly

https://www.greenparty.org.uk/news/2015 ... mbert-mep/[/quote]Green Party wrote:British police are going to Calais to form a new "command and control" centre to try and address human trafficking, and Theresa May will today visit the French port to sign a deal with Bernard Cazeneuve, French Interior Minister.
Responding to these new plans, Jean Lambert, Green MEP for London, said:
"Theresa May has again failed to recognise that there needs to be genuine co-operation on assessing the asylum and migration claims of those at Calais and not dismissing their desire to be in the UK.
"Given that those in the Calais camps have no means of entering the UK through regular channels it should be no surprise that the smuggling gangs have moved in. If the Government wants to tackle the growth in smuggling, it also has to provide regular routes for desperate people and working jointly with the French asylum authorities is part of the solution.
"Theresa May is only too eager to act with others to protect borders. Where is her eagerness to act with other governments in ensuring the protection of those fleeing conflict and oppression?"

The fences are going up all around Europe. If the migrants keep coming, and the fences don't work, those tasked with policing the borders will turn to guns instead.Hundreds of migrants have rushed at Macedonian border forces in an attempt to enter the country from Greece.
The security forces beat back the migrants with truncheons and riot shields. A number of people were injured.
On Thursday, Macedonia declared a state of emergency to cope with migrants - many from the Middle East - who are trying to reach northern EU states.
The UN urged both Greece and Macedonia to tackle a "deteriorating situation".
'Vulnerable categories'
Some 44,000 people have reportedly travelled through Macedonia in the past two months, meeting little border resistance, but razor wire has now been rolled across the frontier to prevent people from entering.

I think if you want to help people from syria you would need to go to syria pick a side ideally not isis and win, kill the people on the other side and bring peace to the country.
I think all the people talking about destroying arms and borders would be better off getting arms and fighting .
The main problem isnt climate change its pure islam I think we should ditch the word fundermentalist and replace it with pure because thats clearer .
