I don't know but I'd guess they played with lenses and such to make the bear look even bigger then they really are. Every fisherman holds the fish out close to the camera to make it look bigger.
But yes that is probably a real bear shot by that guy. Kodiak bears are huge.
Here is another photo of some guys that took on one of these bears with a bow and arrows.

Yep, a wide-angle lens would do that. The photographer would have been closer to the bear than he would have wanted to be if it was still alive. About 2-3 feet!

Jesus wept, those men look pathetic. What is it with some Yank men? They got problems with dick size or something?

Yes, they'd be no match for the bear if it wasn't for the weapons.

I can tell you from experience that even with a modern rifle you can shoot a bear much smaller then those in the pictures and have it turn and run directly at you. That gets your undivided attention.

A wide angle lens lens would be pretty useful for viewing threads that have been *broken* because someone has posted an 861-character URL, too. ;)

Seriously, VTS... when you post ridiculously long URLs, it breaks the whole page of that thread for people viewing on a small - even standard - sized screen... I have to scroll endlessly and repeatedly to the right. Effectively unreadable.

If instead you do this:

Code: Select all

[url=https://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0LEVoCslzVV7tsA.2EnnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTBsa3ZzMnBvBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkAw--?p=kodiak+bear+trophy&back=https%3A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fyhs%2Fsearch%3Fp%3DKodiack%2Bbear%2Btrophy%26ei%3DUTF-8%26hsimp%3Dyhs-003%26hspart%3Dmozilla%26fr%3Dyhs-mozilla-003&w=600&h=450&imgurl=www.alaskaadventuresafaris.com%2Fgallery%2Fimages%2Ffull%2F201211231353686479&size=127KB&name=201211231353686479&rcurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alaskaadventuresafaris.com%2Fgallery%2Fshowimage.php%3Fiid%3D87&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alaskaadventuresafaris.com%2Fgallery%2Fshowimage.php%3Fiid%3D87&type=&no=8&tt=120&oid=aa9782316ddfa7716b056039a14f4f4c&tit=...+trophy+kodiak+brown+bear+steve+boardman+scored+a+real+trophy+kodiak&sigr=1224fa6ko&sigi=125u1ohtn&sign=10i3j5omo&sigt=103vg5ole&sigb=13ihnplfr&fr=yhs-mozilla-003&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-003]link[/url]

If I lived in the US, I'd definitely exercise my right to arm bears. 8)

Does that mean they don't have small dicks and/or some sort of psychological problem?

Sorry about that. I just copied and pasted the address line over the picture and didn't realize it would come out that way and it didn't blow my screen wide so I was not aware it had done that to others. I've seen it before and it is annoying but I'm not geek enough to see the difference before I hit enter.

No just that they chose the wrong escape route.

There were a couple of good pictures of bears that hadn't been shot (yet), the rest were depressing.

I don't know as these guys are Canadian or American but the video was shot in Canada. Stop at 12:00 if you don't want to watch the end.

As an aside, apparently bears are quite good eating. Some Canadians hunt and eat them. Bear Burgers are popular, and the skins make good hats.

I don't have a problem with that.

That's obscene. If you're going to hunt then use a weapon that will humanely kill your chosen species.

As long as their population is stable and secure, neither do I

Actually the population in New England is growing or stable. And yes they are good eating if a bit tough on any but the best cuts. One of my daughters much preferred bear steaks to venison. Not something I'll eat on a regular basis though as there are just not that many here and you can't hunt them over bait as they were in the Canadian video.
What is inhumane about a clean razor sharp arrow though the vitals that bleeds out in a few minutes? You would prefer they were hit by a car or starved to death after their teeth failed? Remember that there are no old age homes for wild animals.
