General Election May 2015

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

What interesting points?

"rich businessman whose only claim to political wisdom rests on him selling lots of beer worries that labour, either alone or in alliance with like minded parties, will make him pay more tax"

I was thinking more along the lines of whether the prospect of a Labour / SNP alliance would galvanize more voters into voting Tory in order to prevent said possibility from happening, or at least get the Tories close enough for them to enter another coalition.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was another election this year anyway........

The libs wont want another coalition with the Tories. As far as i am concerned, if enough left of centre parties get enough MPs, then there is a very strong likelihood they will form an alliance to keep the Tories out.

So, my advice to anyone is, if they bother to vote at all, to vote for the most leftist party on offer on the basis that they are more likely than at any point in my life to form a cohesive coalition.

Excepting in special cases where a specific left of centre party has a specific hold in a specific constituency (Respect, for example), if you are in Scotland, vote for the SNP. If you are in England, vote for the Greens. If you are in Northern Ireland, vote Sin Fein.

I wouldn't put anything past the LDs. It would quite amusing to see them jump into bed with a Tory/UKIP coalition should a left-wing 'coalition of the willing' appeared likely.

Still, an SNP/Labour coalition is obviously ruffling some feathers:

This is a cool gadget:

http://www.voterpower.org.uk/
In Louth & Horncastle, one person does not really have one vote, they have the equivalent of 0.094 votes.
The power of voters in this constituency is based on the probability of the seat changing hands and its size.

While you might think that every vote counts equally, where you live in the UK has a huge effect on your power to influence the election.

The average UK voter has 2.7x more voting power than voters in Louth & Horncastle.

The origins of climate change are unclear and the Green Party is peddling a regressive brand of politics. That’s according to UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

He also questioned the UK’s contribution to climate change, telling Spiked magazine: “We are a nation that produces 1.8 percent of global carbon dioxide, so I do not get closing down our aluminum smelters, most of our steel production, and now our refining industry, and all that production being moved to India, and therefore the steel-based products made in India then having to be shipped back to Britain.”

“This to me makes no sense at all.”

Farage called the UK’s wind energy program the “biggest collective economic insanity I've seen in my entire life.”
This man is a menace, a maniac. He'll fit in just fine in Westminster.

So Cameron's going to attack obese people if the nation's daft enough to vote him back in. Benefits will be linked to taking part in weight-loss programmes.

What good news - imagine the money saved not paying benefits to those overweight bankers.

Cameron and his fascist cronies need to be sent packing. Forever.

Labour to cap private profits in NHS
 ... and pigs will ...

If they're elected, they'll be as keen to sell off the NHS to their corporate buddies as Cameron & Co.

There's not a day passes without a story on the tube about the failures of the NHS. We're all being 'primed' to accept privatisation by whatever means.

Yep. The Post Office is being run down over here in Ireland to do exactly the same thing.
