General Election May 2015

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Labour plots huge wind turbine increase
Thousands more wind turbines will be built in the countryside if Labour wins the next election, the party has secretly promised the industry.

The Green Party now has more members than the LibDems, making it the UK's third largest party by membership.

Yes I am regretting agreeing to co-ordinate the new members, supporters and volunteers of my local party, it's become a full-time (unpaid) job, plus I'm going to need a bloody holiday after the elections. I am working with 300 more people than I did when I had a paid version of the role I am now doing.....

Still can't complain- I am loving the Green surge...... :D

"UK's third largest party" was actually the SNP, not the Lib Dems. Have the Greens eclipsed even the SNP? SNP membership currently stands at around 93,000.

I stand corrected. We English tend to forget about Scotland (except when we add together the membership totals of the Green Party of England and Wales and of the Green Party of Scotland). ;)

Commentary north of the border is even starting to question why the Conservatives should even be invited to a UK- wide TV debate, as they only have one MP in Scotland!

There are more SNP MPs representing Scottish constituencies in Westminster than Conservatives or Greens, yet the SNP are not even being considered for inclusion in a national debate. Go figure!

The TV leaders' debates are an import from US presdential elections. They have no place in our form of general election and should be shelved IMO.

I've still got it sitting on my computer. Is there any way of saving it from Youtube?

Better still, publish it to DailyMotion.

It's a good one though. Someone used the same clip to lampoon the Irish government's water charges farce.

The election anthem

Published on Jan 16, 2015
Go Green, Go Green, Go Green, Go Green
I'm beggin' of you please don't miss your chance
Go Green, Go Green, Go Green, Go Green
All the rest are just another scam

Despite a lack of billionaire
To get our policies on air
We got 4,000 members in two days
Perhaps it's coz we speak the truth
We resonate with age and youth
We believe in The Common Good

So OFCOM now we measure up
How's that for proof we're good enough
Ms Bennett will be sure to raise the roof
So help us save the NHS
And fix the railway's corporate mess
We've got the answers, now we just need you.

Vote Green in 2015!

The presence of the nationalist parties in a national debate would derail that debate, IMO. Everything the SNP says and does is skewed by its nationalist agenda (e.g. the ludicrously optimistic estimates of future oil revenues). The westminster government, by definition, is the government of the whole of the UK, and cannot afford or justify this sort of bias. As a result, whenever the SNP representative said anything about anything at all, the other parties would be forced to respond in a way that kept bringing the discussion back to Scottish nationalism.

We've just had a referendum and the nationalists lost it. At some point we do have to stop allowing the nationalist debate to dominate Scottish, and British, politics.
