An interactive map showing the destruction of Gaza

The true scale of the wanton carnage revealed

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has accused Israel of carrying out a "war of genocide" in Gaza in his speech at the UN General Assembly.

Mr Abbas said Israeli "war crimes" in Gaza should be punished, but stopped short of saying he would take the issue to the International Criminal Court.

His speech brought strong condemnation from Israel and from the US, which described it as "offensive".

Offensive? Pots and kettles methinks.

I thought the whole point of the IS/Iraq crisis was stop us talking about Palestine.

No, it's to stop us talking about Unemployment. But some of us have got enough time on our hands to talk about both. Because we've no work to do... :)

An 'interesting' possible development: part of Sinai offered to Gaza?
It is noticeable that Israel’s large-scale operations attacking Gaza – in the winter of 2008-09, 2012 and again this year – started shortly after Israel and the US, according to Asharq al-Awsat, began turning the screws on Mubarak to concede part of Sinai.

Go live in the desert!

Why doesn't Israel move into the middle of the desert and leave Palestine to the Palestinians?

I bet there's somebody there. And I bet that if someone else like the Palestinians or the Israelis moves in, the original someones will object and then each have 10 children, then in a couple of decades' time we'll be back to square one...

From The Gray Prince by Jack Vance
"Except for a few special cases, title to every parcel of real property derives from an act of violence, more or less remote, and ownership is only as valid as the strength and will required to maintain it. This is the lesson of history, whether you like it or not.”
Uncomfortable quote but probably true.

Precisely. It's rich, innit?

Sad to say, the alternative that the Zionists have in store is worse.

(Before I typed the last 'e' in 'worse', the autocorrect suggested 'wars'. )

Not probably. Property is violence.

UK lawmakers vote to recognise Palestinian state
“That this House believes that the Government should recognise the state of Palestine alongside the state of Israel as a contribution to securing a negotiated two-state solution.”
Did any significant UK news source report this?

Typically, Cameron abstained from the vote, the wassock.

Most Tories simply stayed away from the house.

Presumably to emphasize the point of how powerless backbenchers are at putting forward bills.

The vote is unfortunately entirely symbolic and will be totally ignored by the establishment.

It was reported on R4 parliamentary report at length.
