Hinkley State Aid decision: petition to the EC

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Hinkley State Aid decision: petition to the EC

Post by RenewableCandy »

The European Commission are charged with the task of (hopefully) categorising the lavish subsidies heaped upon the prospective Hinkley C as State Aid and therefore illegal.

To encourage them in this crucial but thankless task, there is a petition whih I have just signed.

People can also write individual letters, I have the guy's address somewhere, prob in the Nuke section here.

The fight goes on...Austria, Germany, Dale Vince and a chap called Paul Dorfman are all considering a legal challenge, on the grounds that in their haste to do the deed before retiring, the outgoing Commissioners have misinterpreted te law on State Aid.

Last rites for Hinkley C

Very good article from Jonathan Porritt.
Over the last few months, details have been trickling out about the retaliatory measures UK Ministers are now threatening in a demonstration of state bullying that beggars belief. A leaked memo showed UK ministers asserting that "the UK will take every opportunity to sue or damage Austria in the future."
