In response to all the hyperbolic MSM reports of Russian columns in Ukraine, Dmitry Orlov gives his own lucid view:

How can you tell whether Russia has invaded Ukraine?

Here is an uncompromising press conference by the Donetsk Chairman of their Council of Ministers, to both Western and Russian journalists. Took place apparently on 24 August.

In Russian, with English subtitles. About half an hour long.

Human Rights Watch Report on Luhansk: http://www.hrw.org/news/2014/09/01/ukra ... ll-luhansk
Unlawful government and insurgent attacks in and around Luhansk are contributing to rising civilian casualties. According to a morgue doctor in Luhansk, explosive weapons have killed more than 300 civilians in the city since May.

While it was difficult to establish with certainty responsibility for individual attacks amid ongoing fighting, circumstantial evidence indicates that government forces were responsible for many of the attacks Human Rights Watch investigated in the city and that insurgent forces were responsible for several attacks against areas under government control on the outskirts.

'Thank army on your knees': Rada MP muzzled after criticizing E.Ukraine shelling
The Ukrainian parliament speaker has told a female MP she must “get to her knees” after she criticized the “criminal” shelling of peaceful cities in the east. It was accompanied by accusations of “Russian propaganda” and switching off her microphone.

fter she’d asked for a moment of silence to honor the memory of those who have been killed in Donbass, Elena Bondarenko of the Regions Party gave a scathing review of her government, which “separates people into Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians.”

Cameron announces a 10,000-strong, UK-led NATO rapid reaction force to counter (non-existent) "Russian aggression" and the Ukrainian Defense Minister comes out with:
Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Geletey said Monday that the conflict in eastern Ukraine between government troops and pro-independence insurgents has escalated into a "war" .

"A great war came at our doorstep, the war, which Europe has not seen since World War II," Geletey wrote on his official Facebook page.

Accusing Russia of beginning a "full-scale invasion" of Ukraine, Geletey announced the end of government's military operation in the east.

"The operation to liberate eastern Ukraine from 'terrorists' is over. We must urgently undertake the defense against Russia," Geletey said.

He blamed Moscow for the escalation of the conflict in Lugansk and Donetsk regions, claiming that Russia "via unofficial channels" has threatened to use "tactical nuclear weapons" against Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defence is set to sign a £3.5bn deal for nearly 600 new armoured vehicles ahead of the Nato summit in Wales.

The MoD will sign the order for 589 Scout Specialist Vehicles at General Dynamics in Caerphilly county.

David Cameron said the deal would aid UK security and "underpin" many jobs.
Isn't it amazing how TPTB can also be relied upon to find the money for war?

It would come as no surprise to me if the UK's biggest industry in 'peace' time is armaments. This is merely re-direction.

Several people I know in England are totally unaware of the direction their junta is taking them. I suspect they wouldn't be unrepresentative.

Ukraine's Poroshenko agrees 'ceasefire process' with Putin
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko says he has agreed with Russian President Putin by phone on a "ceasefire process" for the east.

His office initially reported that a "permanent ceasefire" had been agreed but later revised its statement.

The Kremlin stressed Mr Putin had not agreed to a ceasefire as Russia was not party to the conflict
BBC yet to update their misleading map that accompanies every 'Ukraine' story.

The Kiev leadership increasingly seem to have completely lost the plot.

"Yats" keeps coming out with comments so blatantly fed to him by his US "handlers" that a child could see through them.

As for Poroshenko, his statements just seem to be getting more and more bizarre. I don't know whether he is insane, or is just coming out with increasingly desperate noise to keep NATO's foot on the accelerator pedal. If the latter, it surely must be only a matter of time before the average person in the street starts to smell a rat. (Hopefully).

NATO are talking about "Russia's aggressive behaviour". Can someone point me to a description of it, please?
