Here's an interesting document, an Israeli training manual for persuasion:

Whatevver!

That what's the IDF is saying, yet one of the mosques in Rafah was reporting the kidnapping at 0630 this morning, BEFORE the ceasefire started at 0800.

Either way, you don't go about trying to rescue your captured soldier by shelling the the entire area (Rafah) where he has been taken to. Nor do you re-start a bombing campaign, naval bombardment or shelling of the rest of Gaza in retaliation.
It would appear that the Israelis didn't want to rescue its captured soldier - it would rather kill him/her and the capturers as well
The Hannibal Directive

The “Hannibal Directive” captured the Israeli imagination in the mid-1980s, when ongoing incursions and occupation in Lebanon, following the 1982 invasion, confronted the Israeli army with opportunities to experience capture.

Popular understanding of this directive is phrased as “a dead soldier is better than a kidnapped [sic] one” – which was taken to mean that it would be better to kill a captured prisoner of war than have him remain alive.
Did the Israeli Army deliberately kill its own captured soldier and destroy Gaza?

   The Israelis really are out of control psychopaths

I can't bear to listen to the news any more. The f***ing BBC R4 news has just given over airtime to the killer Netenyau to "appeal" to the rest of the world to "stand with Israel" against the "terrorists" Hamas.

Meanwhile, another 200 hundred Palestinians have been murdered since the end of the Ceasefire alone

"Obama’s ‘helplessness’ an act: Snowden reveals US role in Israel’s regional aggression"
The turmoil gripping the Middle East is a direct result of the provision of cash, weapons and surveillance to Israel by the US, the latest Snowden leak illustrates. Obama’s “helpless detachment” is just for show, the Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald writes.

In a bold examination, the former Guardian journalist reveals the amazing contrast between what the United States says publicly, and what it does behind the curtain.

Totally unanswered by anyone on the opposing side?
Iran gave Hamas an estimated £13-15 million a month after its victory in the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections - enough to cover its governing budget, said Dr Adnan Abu Amer, assistant professor of political science at Gaza City's Ummah University.

Forgive me but this seems related: I heard a radio interview recently, about a man expanding his restaurant chain. At the end of the piece (about twenty minutes), I knew absolutely nothing about the food but plenty about the image they wanted to promote. Oh, and the app to go with it of course.

Style but no substance. This is our world.

Yes, but I always find those kind of worthy, UN humanitarian organisations of no use for establishing any kind of political/power context in which to place the news, so eager are they to divest themselves of any form of moral judgement on the larger political rights and wrongs of a given situation.

Consequently, whilst I do agree that what they report is reasonably objective, they have all the moral authority of a limp-wristed, "on the one hand, but on the other" CofE vicar.

One has to differentiate between the great many excellent people who work hard for the UN and the Security Council that is controlled by the veto power of the permanent members. 99% of the UN is brilliant. Sadly, it is spoilt by the 1%.
