Ah, well it turns out that it was American bombs. All the Israelis did was to drop them on top of some people.raspberry-blower wrote:Mark Steel: How Silly it was of me to assume it was Israeli bombs causing all the damage in Gaza

The so called ceasefire is over - both sides accusing the other again.
A reason being mentioned for the breakdown is that an IDF soldier had been captured A comment (second down) seems to suggest a Colonel was seized.

An overwhelming majority of those killed are civilian men, women and children, A UN school was hit by the Israelis the other day after after 17 warnings by the UN that it was a school and it should not be hit.raspberry-blower wrote:Impreciselybiffvernon wrote:Ah, well it turns out that it was American bombs. There is nothing imprecise about the Israeli bombings. They are aiming for the civilian population. They are not trying to break Hamas. They are trying to break the Palestinian people.
They will fail.
It's also worth noting that the current campaign has an overwhelming majority of over 80% of Israelis considering it fully justifiable and over 90% in favour of it when we include those who think it is moderately justifiable.
Unless Jews around the world stand up to be counted right now, all Jews will pay a terrible price for what is happening in Gaza.

Indeed. Isn't it the Yanks - who give Israel virtually all this weaponry - who boast about 'surgical' strikes in their linguistic desperation to put a gloss on their murders? You can't have it both ways. Wait...stevecook172001 wrote:There is nothing imprecise about the Israeli bombings.

Experts say Israeli weapons are not precise
The Israelis do not care who is on the receiving end of this unrelenting barrage and illegal blockade yet the MSM try (and fail abysmally) to give the impression that the Israelis are aiming for non-existent military targets.Jonathan Cook wrote:Here is an article with lots of useful information about how “indiscriminate” Israel’s weapons really are. This interests me a great deal because I have been raising problems about the interpretation of international law used by leading human rights groups, such as Human Rights Watch, on this point since the 2006 Lebanon War.
At that time I got into a dispute with HRW’s Middle East policy director, Sarah Leah Whitson, who argued that Hizbullah was committing war crimes by definition when it fired rockets at Israel, even if it hit military targets, because those rockets were primitive and inherently inaccurate. By contrast, Israel’s missiles were not inherently inadmissible because they were considered by HRW to be precise (see my articles here and here.) That was clearly nonsense in 2006. During the war, Israel dropped millions of cluster munitions – little bomblets that serve effectively as land mines – all over southern Lebanon, endangering the whole civilian population of the area.
This email to the Guardian puts their collusion in sharp relief

That what's the IDF is saying, yet one of the mosques in Rafah was reporting the kidnapping at 0630 this morning, BEFORE the ceasefire started at 0800.vtsnowedin wrote:Whatevver!another_exlurker wrote:99.9% of which rests on the shoulders of Israel and her supporters.vtsnowedin wrote: As I've said numerous times there is plenty of blame to go around.

Either way, you don't go about trying to rescue your captured soldier by shelling the the entire area (Rafah) where he has been taken to. Nor do you re-start a bombing campaign, naval bombardment or shelling of the rest of Gaza in retaliation.
Nor do you deliberately target ambulances and hospitals.
You just don't seem to realise that Netanyahu et al will fabricate or use the flimsiest of excuses to continue the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
