I think the end of the last ice age was also a factor in the demise of the North American mega fauna, Mammoths, etc. , but there seems little doubt that man drove many large species to extinction in South America, Australia, etc.

If you get rid of industrial society, you will get rid of billions of people.
Since "agrarian society was the limit for man on earth", relocating urban dwellers to rural areas will just send lots of potential fertiliser to the rural areas,but on legs. They will die, as they only exist because of the industrial society, which you want to cease.
Why should man get clothing? Obviously an unsuitable being to inhabit parts of the planet without it, so don't inhabit those parts. Ask the wildlife round Chernoble, they are quite pleased with the lack of humans.

This assumes that such carcinogens are an inevitable product or by-product of industry. It is also worth bearing in mind that "Industrial Society" has also allowed for the mass-production of vaccines, life-saving medicines and medical technologies which have saved many lives from diseases that were rampant in "pre-industrial" society. The benefits of such seemingly outweigh the new risks to health produced as a result of "industrial society".
EDIT: This says nothing, however, for the wider environmental impact of mass production or the increased population which inevitably results from curing all these otherwise-fatal diseases.
EDIT #2: It's also perhaps just about fair to say that fewer people were dying of cancer in the past because such tends to develop later in life and other things probably got people first, in the past.

You know, SY, you could have stopped after the end of the bit about space exploration. The rest is just repeating what you've already said, which is waste.
Space travel I think is not worthless. It's about finding out what's there in the universe, satisfying another lesser human need: curiosity. We cannot simply live only to eat, breathe, drink and sleep.
Colonising Mars probably is futile, however.

He could have stopped 36 pages ago. Every post has been more or less a repeat (at conseiderable length). Basically, he dosen't like the world, we should all get off.
If "a human need" requires huge energy input from non-renewable resources, we'll just have to do without it. Most of our ancestors managed without. It's only the last few hundred years that profligate waste has been justified as supplying a "need".
