Cool!
Speaking to The Independent, Mr Goldsmith said the environment secretary's recent speech to formally launch his campaign to grow GM crops in Britain was "nonsense".

"Any half-way decent GM enthusiast with a scientific background would have blushed during much of the speech Owen Paterson made.
No doubt it's all about politics rather than reality but fair play to our Zac.

It's a bit old, but if you don't want to eat GM crops you will be force fed

Sorry to be a doom monger, but cross pollination will eventually make all seeds GM. Then you won't be allowed to grow them without a contract with Monsanto.

They'd have to prize them from my cold dead hands, which would be difficult because I'd be a zombie by then :D

Candy! Prise.

Anyway, more relevant:

Even farmers who would grow GMOs in the UK would not eat their own produce.
A separate survey, also published in June and also funded by Barclays but this time in collaboration with Farmers Weekly, reported that only 47% of farmers believed that GM technology was a good innovation.

600 farmers responded to the online questionnaire and needless to say the industry trumpeted the headline that 61% of them said they would grow GM crops “if they had the opportunity”.
One interesting result is that only 15% of farmers would choose to eat GM food.

54% said they would choose a conventionally labelled food product and 24% would choose organic if it was available.

A clear majority (70%) believed that food products containing GM should be labelled as such.

A degree of honesty that contrasts to supermarkets who deviously sell unlabelled GMO fed livestock products and another slap for Owen Paterson who has been shamelessly trumpeting the fact.

Campaign to get Washington state to label GMOs here (or here if you could help by donating).
Here are two more alarming facts. Earlier this year, the FDA raised the limits for how much glyphosate is allowed to remain on your fruits and vegetables.

And last week, the USDA opened the door for using even greater amounts of glyphosate by approving a new glyphosate-resistant canola, the first of several new glyphosate-resistant crops to be deregulated under a new, speedier review process.

Anyone would think there were ex Monsatan employees running the FDA, which of course wouldn't be allowed, would it

I also think Monsanto will hammer Africa in the coming years.

From the last link:

Europe is one of the world’s major buyers of biotech grain, according to Reuters, importing more than 30 million metric tons of mostly GM animal feed each year for its livestock industry.
They have to import grain as so much of domestic production is sent for ethanol production for use in cars

They (we?) could at least have the decency to burn the GM stuff in cars and feed the kosher stuff to animals. After all, when it's burned, it's presumably no more toxic than ordinary exhaust, no?
