Business jargon..

Post by newmac »

so we're all a bit fed up of "long hanging fruit" and "squaring the circle" but they won't go away. How about some new ones with an energy twist to get people thinking about energy all the time?

So here is the challenge. Firstly we come up with a new set to replace the old and then we report back on the situations in which we have used them.

I'll start with a few to get us going:

"draw a line under it" BECOMES "turn the lights off in the room" or "Unplug it"
"we don't want to reinvent the wheel" BECOMES "Lets not heat the house twice"
"we not talking about changing the world" BECOMES "We're not trying to solve the energy crisis"

"do a cost benefit analysis~" BECOMES "see if the EROI is positive"
"using a sledgehammer to crack a nut" BECOMES "taking the car instead of the bus"

"Present the case for action" becomes "State the obvious".

"Comfort zone" becomes "discomfort zone"

(i.e. you are worrying about things you are familiar with rather than feeling OK about things you know nothing about)
