I think it will end pretty well for Muslims in the west, we don't have the will as a culture to defend ourselves we are giving up territory, we are not bloody minded enough to win in a tit for tat conflict, the sort of societies that do well against islamisation would be far more brutal and uncivilized think Vlad the impaler or Charles the hammer martell .

My guess is part of the reason the more developed parts of the ex roman empire fell to Islam was because they were to civilised and a soft touch .Northern Europe well we used to be more tribal and nasty

Going through my facebook friends their all going on about the hateful things being said and how Muslims are in danger well I don't think they are in any danger at all, its all rhetoric words you don’t have tit for tat violence let alone tit for tat murder, the people in danger are serving police or army out of uniform and unarmed.

Jihadists unlike the edl etc actually do have a history of not just talking.

Anyway we are too nice to civilised we have nice weapons but not the will to use them, and if we ever do have the will to use them we will be outnumbered, generally I think it will end terribly badly for us, extinction genocide slavery that sort of thing, some vestige of the west may survive but it will be xenophobic and neo barbarian certainly nothing like most of you guys would like to see
I don't believe you J2M

I think you know full well what could happen to the Muslims here and elsewhere in the West and I also think you are deliberately playing Devils advocate in order to play your part in surreptitiously promoting such an outcome as part of a broader facist agenda.

Got to agree with Jonny on this one. There seems to be little will to stop the terrorists at the moment. Partly to do with the 60s generation that seems to be in power at the moment.

Makes me rather glad I went to Australia in many ways seeing what is happening in the UK. Not that Australia is in any way immune to these problems due to the high immigration rate here but I think the problems are further away in time due to immigration from non-white countries only beginning in the 1970s. Also less uneducated migrants come over here.

I feel the only way of stopping this effective takeover of most western societies by Muslims is a very high and fairly unrestricted ownership of firearms by the civil population on something like the US scale.

I share my office with a few South Africans for whom gun ownership is seen as a right due to the history there. They spend every weekend training in pistol use.

Not very relevant to Syria but I think Jonny's post was worth answering with my comments.

Nope thats my honest opinion, we are disunited full of white guilt and far too nice to ever win in some sort of turf war in europe .

I really am not saying that as some form of saying its unlikely so people become fascists.

yup you may get some form of fascists who commit mass murder but the mass of white europeans would side against them and hunt them down .

you could look at what we did to the serbs, you could also look at how easy its been to invade this country so far, thats not going to stop .

All my friends after this soldier were killed were only concerned about poor scared muslims and the horrible hateful things that have been said and how this means muslims are in danger, well they are not in danger my friends are they are the people giving up their country

If anything what I'm saying should turn people against joining fascist groups because putting your neck on the line and starting killing people, when the mass of your people hate you and will side with your enemys is pretty daft.

I've just edited some of the above emails to get the attribution correct and get my name out of the discussion. If you're going to use the quote function can you please make sure you get it right. There is a preview button which will show you whether you have or not.

By the way, I do tend to side with J2M in this discussion.

There was an interesting discussion on Question Time this evening on this and a distinction was made between Islamism and Islam: Islamism being a political and militant version of Islam and not what Islam is really about. I think that that is a valid distinction but Islam in the West has to realise that the distinction must be made, made by them and acted on by them if they are not to suffer the backlash.

Islam has to stand up and be seen to support our democratic secular society so that their young know where Islam stands. There is no central leadership in Islam and that "power vacuum" is exploited by radical Islamists to subvert the teachings of Islam to their own ends.

Are there any Islamic lurkers who could comment on this. We do lack any opinion from your side here in this and other discussions.

I must admit to being slightly bemused by this last page. I wish that I knew how to do one of those poll things, but...Which set of countries is currently rampaging around which set of countries?

Are those of Christian appearance rampaging through those of Muslim appearance or vice versa?

are the people of christian appearence settling in their millions in the land of the people of muslim appearence. I think changing demographics will have more long term effect than the odd military base or invasion

I'm with Steve on this one. J2M has a point about present western attitudes but each event like the butchery you have just witnessed changes public opinion. Eventually we will collectively regard Islamist just as the American Christians came to regard the Native Americans. "The only good Indian is a dead Indian” That policy once applied with the full means at our disposal will be an extinction event for them. I expect that pretensions at civility will include deportation of whole families back to their country of origin but then cutting off food aid and trade will leave them to their own devices back in the deserts of the ME and they will kill each other over water and food.
We'll still buy the oil FOB delivered and pay with guns to keep the killing going until there are just a few left then sweep in and shoot the winners.

The last one you need to watch it looks at the question of is islam a religion as we might understand it or a political system and how jihad is related to it

Yes, this is a plausible, if horrifying, likelihood. And the most horrifying aspect of all of it is that secular liberals like me will no longer be able to maintain a detached position. Everyone will be forced to take sides, like it or not. It reminds me of an old Northern Irish joke from the darkest times of the troubles;

"Are you a Catholic or a protestant?"

"Neither, I'm an atheist"

"Yes, but are you a catholic or a protestant atheist?"

That last one fleshes out and confirms my understanding of their beliefs.
