A frank opinion here.
...he was warm, engaging, unpretentious, intelligent and frank. It's not relevant, but I liked him.

Nice article. I agree he'll come out on top in the end.emordnilap wrote:A frank opinion here.

I wish i agreed with you UE. But, it seems to me those at the top have made such strenuous efforts to get this man by any means necessary, no matter how ludicrous, that they are not going to stop now. He'll be in there for years or they will get him to the USA, at which point he will sink without trace.UndercoverElephant wrote:Nice article. The only thing that will stop the above outcome is for massive public support for Assange in the form of continuous and massively disruptive demonstrations.
Short of that, they'll get him one way or another.

The UK fares just as badly in all of this IMO.
The Met Plod are actively ensconsed in an overseas embassy - what kind of message does that send round the world? Violating international law and flouting diplomatic protocol is ok??
If the boot was on the other foot, there would be an outrage. Yet by engaging in such practice, the chances of a copycat seige/attack a la Benghazi has been greatly increased...

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools - Douglas Adams.

More here.A spokesman for the Ecuadorian government said: "It is interesting that a senior official from the Swedish judicial system has acknowledged that they have the power to block onward extradition to the USA of Julian Assange.
" If such a guarantee was offered by both the Swedish and UK governments then we believe it would go a significant way to resolving the present situation.
"The Ecuadorian government reiterates its offer to the Swedish prosecutors to interview Mr Assange at the embassy in London."

232 days without freedom so far for Assange.
1,050 days without freedom so far for Manning.
There is at least one petition for Manning to receive the Nobel peace prize; him and Assange should get it.

Assange hope to launch a rival to Google.
PLUS D would make it easier for journalists to conduct investigations, by using a search algorithm that “rivaled Google.”

The Icelandic government proves again it is slightly less bad than other governments.

No surprises here.
A message from September 2012, read out by Assange, apparently says: "They are trying to arrest him on suspicion of XYZ … It is definitely a fit-up… Their timings are too convenient right after Cablegate."
