Arkansas nuclear plant accident - 1 dead and 3 injured

Is nuclear fission going to make a comeback and plug the gap in our energy needs? Will nuclear fusion ever become energetically viable?

Post by stephendavion »

An accident at an Arkansas nuclear power plant at 7:45 a.m. local time resulted in the death of one worker and left three injured, but did not cause radiation and it is not a public health risk, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. ..... :?

The accident was during repairs to the power generating turbine, not on the reactor which was being refueled.

A second reactor at the site was shut down as a consequence.

But accident at nuclear plant makes for a good headline - doesn't matter if it's someone tripping over a loose paving slab.

You can make that into a good headline if you're a policewoman, and do it at a petrol station!

Yes, very sad for those innvolved but not of any wider significance than any other industrial accident.
