A peoples buy-out of Britains farmland

To envisage that all Britain’s farmland should be held in trust, dedicated in perpetuity to Enlightened Agriculture – farming that is expressly designed to provide everyone with food of the highest quality without wrecking the rest of the world?

I think it's a wonderful idea but.
Imagine, Britain divided up, one parcel per person, the land shared exactly equally. No-one left out but no spare land either, meaning you can't come in without someone leaving. That should cheer the racists up!

I think the intention is more in keeping with a sense of 'the commons' and good stewardship rather than an individualistic type approach.emordnilap wrote:I think it's a wonderful idea but.

I never knew the notion of crofting carried such heavy connotations.lurker wrote:"Now we have the opportunity to carry out a resolute offensive against the kulaks, break their resistance, eliminate them as a class and replace their production with the production of kolkhozes and sovkhozes."
To paraphrase Mr Tudge.....
'It seems to me that if one talks about the need for small-mixed-farms, it's very easy to be accussed of being......well the worst thing to be is a hippie, and the next worst thing is a greeny, and the next worst thing is a commie, and if you advocate small-mixed-farms...you are all three'

True, planning needs addressed.

The official reasons for refusal, drafted over a tea break, reflected the principal concern about our application:
“If granted, based upon the supporting information submitted, the proposal would set a precedent for further dwellings, in association with permaculture and agroforestry proposals, in the countryside which the Local Planning Authority would find hard to resist.”
