She's unavailable to me regardless, she doesn't like me that way. We've been in the same social group for nearly 20yrs and i know she doesn't see me like that. Telling her in a non pre-apocalypse situation wouldn't gain me anything. I have a sad life!

Well it's been nice knowing you lot. I don't think there's an afterlife, so we probably won't meet again, apart from any stupid comments I post tomorrow.

As some people say it's not the end, but a new beginning, PowerSwitch may not be needed after Friday, if we're still here. The fossil fuel companies will stop drilling, the frackers will have fracked off, Monsanto will be closed down, the politicians and bankers will become honest, all he weapons will turn into flowers, and everyone will love everyone else. Won't life be boring :D.

Not necessarily, but we wouldn't have anything for PowerSwitch to discuss, if the Power had been successfully Switched!

Oh be fair; a mere visit to Essex does not necessarily portend the End of Days. I drove through a corner of it a couple of years ago and survived.

When RenewableFrere was offered relocation to Essex, he moved South all right: he quit his job and went to live in New Zealand!

Apparently the apocalypse won't happen until America enters the 21st.

It's ALWAYS about you isn't it America.

It is all about the Mayan calender in this case.

I do agree with the sentiment elsewhere though.

Well, the Mayans were in North America.

The solstice is the solstice. It happens everywhere at the same time, precisely 2 hours and 12 minutes after the markets close in New York this afternoon (IIRC.)

Is anyone keeping an eye on the finance world, btw (because I remember your post about the possible Bank Holiday...)

America’s government chose not to govern yesterday, as Republican House Speaker John Boehner cancelled a tax vote in Congress because he calculated that he didn’t have the votes to pass it. The result: America now looks set to go over the fiscal cliff. The Mayans might have been wrong about the end of the world, but they might be on target about the end of John Boehner’s career. Aside from being very bad news for America’s economy, this is a disaster for Republicans.
Looks like America is finally going to start "austerity" - austerity we all know will not end any time soon. And not really by choice, but because internal politics forces it.
