Our Visit To Shetland

Post by Tarrel »

We've just returned from our visit to Shetland Wool Week. It has been a great week and I have been thoroughly inspired by these fascinating islands. I'll be making a series of posts on our blog, specifically covering the wool industry and some of the Neolithic, Bronze and Iron-age settlements and technologies we explored.

First entry, by way of an overview, has been posted. Hope folks find them interesting and useful.

Just wanted to say 'great blog!' I read your latest posts and now I'm reading them from the beginning. I always love to read blogs of people who are following their dreams and getting stuck in.

I'm also enjoying your blog. Especially the post on Shetland. I spent part of my childhood on Bressay just across the sound from Lerwick. At the time I didn't appreciate what a special place it was. I'm looking forward to the follow up posts.

Thanks for the kind comments folks.

@Revdode; I spent a morning walking on Bressay, having taken the short ferry from Lerwick. A very quiet place. Made Lerwick seem like the big city by comparison!

A report on some of the ancient settlements and technologies we explored on Shetland is now up on the blog. Hope nobody minds this thread being used as a "blog feed". Please say if it's not OK.

I see no problem.

Just posted a report on my visit to Unst, and Britain's most northerly point. No peak-oil or sustainability stuff here, but it was an interesting day and I got some nice pics.
