What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?
"The country is headed toward a single and splendid government of an aristocracy founded on banking institutions and moneyed incorporations and if this tendency continues it will be the end of freedom and democracy, the few will be ruling...I hope we shall...crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government to trial and bid defiance to the laws of our country.
I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies."

Haven't we? I remember voting for my MEP a while back... I think people often forget about the representation the UK has in the EU - it's not a one way street.

i voted to join the common market(emphasis on the market), i DID NOT vote to join a "United States of Europe"(isnt that why we fought ww2?) i would NOT vote to stay in, if i ran a company where the auditors would not sign off the accounts for 17 years IN A ROW i would be sacked for incompetence.
not if you were making shit loads of money for the shareholders.
you mean the Germans? they seem to be the ones running the show! WW3 without firing a shot!
I actually meant the politicians. The only reason I want out of Europe, and I used to be staunchly pro, is that we need to localise because of resource constraints in almost every aspect, economically, politically, socially.
The germans are powerful because of their incredibly strong economic productivity, but the euro crisis shows how impotent all these nations are in the face of, now what's that term again? Negative growth , I prefer the term shrinkage.
i prefer the term"lets get the f### OUT!" politicians both domestic and foreign have ruined this once great nation and are only in politics for what (wealth and power) they can get out of it.

No, the main point of the Common Market (though that was not made too explicit at the time) was to make another European war less likely. This is just as important today and the reason we need to integrate the eastern European states.
