On the other hand, many woodlands that would otherwise be neglected have rides cut which are great for insects, birds and butterflies. Fields are left with wide "cover strips" along the sides and hedgerows are maintained, all of which benefits other species. The pheasants are actually fed to keep them on the shoot, so they don't feed exclusively on insects, and the work supports many rural farms and farm workers who would otherwise be on the bread-line.
There are two sides to every argument, although we agree that wasting birds is obscene.
Indeed. I'm not quite sure at what point the Olympics stopped being about running and jumping and such-like (including some shooting) and became a pop and rock concert but The Who are always a good way to end anything.
