Population leaps 3.7m in ten years

Post by Aurora »

The Independent - 16/07/12

The population of England and Wales has leapt by 3.7 million over the last decade, the biggest growth between censuses since records began, according to new figures.

The number of people living in England and Wales stands at 56.1 million, a rise of just over 7% on the 52.4 million registered in the 2001 census.

The growth in population was fuelled by migration, increased life expectancy and a rise in fertility rates, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

The new figures show the biggest growth in numbers in any period between censuses since the headcount began 210 years ago in 1801, with England now the fifth fastest growing country in the European Union.

And remember that the true figures are almost certainly substantialy higher.
Those who are not meant to be here are unlikely to declare their presence via a census.

What pisses me off the most is that concerns about immigration ore completely legitimate. Firstly, in terms of the straightforward arithmetic of food, fuel, and general infrastructure. This is the last thing this country needs given the resource scarcity to come. Secondly, it is also perfectly legitimate to be concerned about cultural assimilation with such large numbers coming in over such a short period of time. Assimilation needs to be handled carefully at the best of times. However, these are not the best of times and so to handle such assimilation badly right now is asking for trouble.

The BNP are only going to have a field day because no-one else in the politician establishment has either the courage or even the willingness to address it. The lack of courage comes from a mangled liberal sensibility on the left and the unwillingness comes from a quasi-religious adherence to a model of perpetual growth on the right. As a consequence, the mainstream political establishment is basically stuck on this issue. Hence, the likes of the BNP are able to fill the vacuum.

All the major party's are actively encouraging immigration into the UK, the left as a form of genocide against white people and their culture. Thats what multiculturalism and anti racism is all about, if it wasn't you would see people encouraging Asia and Africa to be settled by other races but the only part of the world where there is a drive to get rid of the existing race or culture is where white people are a majority because their culture and people are not valued .

If for example you had a drive to make orientals become extinct via immigration by flooding their country by millions of africans and whites, because you hated their culture found it boring or xenophobic and dangerous, that would be classed under UN definitions as genocide, but somehow you can do that to majority white country's and thats fine

Its not like its somehow something thats just happening, its being planned to happen as a matter of policy, that came out when Andrew neather tony blairs speech writer boasted about labours plan to defeat right wing whites by making whites a powerless minority

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... viser.html

And really it doesn't matter if the bnp have a field day, they don't control the media and are a pretty powerless party who have no chance of being elected, also the policy is working whites in the UK are becoming less and less important and how they feel about their country being taken over and radically changed doesn't really matter.

They are swiftly becoming a minority and even as a minority would be fractured and impotent.

London is nearly majority non white most of the uk's other major city's are heading that way and you guys worry about the bnp and Nazis, its quite laughable .

What the hell do you think they would be able to do ?

The problem is we have a predicament, not a problem.

We have a rising population in part because people are living longer because of improved health and social care which has been via the fossil fuel powered economic bubble, even as domestic fertility has fallen below replacement level.

To provide the (wo)man power to provide this health and social care (and perform other low paid and unpopular jobs) we have seen substantial economic immigration, both legal and illegal. This has lead to a more or less stable demographic for people under 40.

We are now facing limits to growth, financial collapse, energy shortages, growing unemployment and social inequality, and inadquate money to pay for the care of the ever growing number of old and sick. We also face a struggle to grow enough food to feed the current population.

We are clearly in population overshoot, but we cannot blame the immigrants, without whom we wouldn't have had some of the social improvements of the last 20 years. However, we do need to get a grip on numbers now.

It is inevitable that we face both large numbers of old people who above all need human care to look after them, and a large number of under-employed healthy people struggling for a viable lifestyle. The solution is clearly wealth redistribution that will enable the unemployed to be funded to provide basic care to the people who need it.

I do not think we can prevent life expectancy from falling. We inevitably face a shortfall of advanced medical care for the old (me and mine included). However, we need to redeploy our budgets away from high tech care to basic support. A huge fraction of hospital bills goes into the last two years of life. We need to drastically simplify and localise health care for the old (even if it funded through central taxation).

30 years - South Asian driven.
60 years - West Indian driven.
100 years - Jewish driven.
200 years - Hugenot driven
1000+ years - Norman/Viking/Angle/Roman driven.
8000+ years - Pict driven.
100,000 years - Neanderthal driven.

We have net immigration because Britain is a nicer place to live than a lot of other places. That should be a cause for celebration, tempered with concern for the welfare of the less nice places.

People, like me, who think Britain is crowded enough should work to ensure that the push factors operating in other countries are dealt with.

Well again this smacks of paternalism, so we are able to distantly control how other country's are run to bring them up to our level of success and happiness .

It could be that they are a population that through over breeding have gone into overshoot caused their country to become hell on earth, and plan on doing the same thing here.

I find it hard to take the census figures seriously. I think we could all think of many different reasons why someone might be missing.

We also had to pay £300m (?) to have it processed by the world's largest military company - in addition to all the other costs. Was it worth it?

There must be many other ways to obtain population and other estimates.

hmm well for nearly 100,000 years most of your immigration as been from europe mainly northern europe, you did have a pretty homogeneous culture until quite recently, when the cult of multiculturalism kicked in and told people they had to live in some sort of Balkan tower of babel .

And I suppose until you cant say that a person or group come from somewhere else, which if you look in the Balkans can be a very long time.

During the war you had people saying the Bosnians for example were turk or Muslim invaders even though they had been there for 1000 years.

Ive heard welsh people referring to the English as Anglo SAXON invaders even though the English have been here a while and they look similar to the welsh .

If you have immigration where the people look very different or have a radically different culture, I think it can take a long time

Any attempt to improve the lot of other countries is typicly dismissed as being "neo-imperialist" or unfairly "imposing our systems on other cultures"

Looking at the weather this summer, I do wonder why so many people want to move here. I can't wait to get out of here and move somewhere healthier and warmer(slightly).

I think we need to think about not doing harm to other countries before we can contemplate trying to improve their lot.
