The new Blackfriars station, which is being built on a bridge spanning the River Thames, is half way to becoming the world's largest solar bridge after Solarcentury begun the installation of over 4,400 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.

It is certainly impressive, but I wonder how the energy production compares with the energy used for lighting the station 24/7 ?
I have seen the lighting on when daylight would appear sufficient.
The lighting is of good efficiency, but would be better still if turned off when not needed.

It mentions sun pipes, so they might be a help.
