Is Solar Power going to give the UK the energy it needs for the 21st century?

They said that in 2005 and 2000 though.

Erm, and in all the excitement I forgot what I was going to say...
August 2010 Chateau Renewable goes solar at £5,000 per kWpeak
November 2011 nearby neighbours going solar at £3,500 per kWpeak, the same rate as advertised in our local equivalent of FT "How To Spend It" (it's called something like "It's Posh Up North" and, of course, is based in Harrogate) :D

Went to a lecture earlier on and the speaker said that installation costs will soon be £2500/kWp and you'll still get a 6% return on the new rates for FIT. OK if you've got the money in the bank but not if you're borrowing money. He did say that he's working with a lot of Housing Associations to install on their tenants roofs so the poor shouldn't be left out.

So you're OK if you're rich and you're OK if you're poor but those of us stuck in the middle will be left out. Same as ever then!!

Seen a £2,500/kWp set-up advertised in the Yorkshire Post. At this rate they'll be giving them away by 2016.
