What's the AFL?

Racists in the UK have murdered people, have people who are 'culturally inclusive' done this?

People of all backgrounds kill others all the time. Racial minorities get killed by other groups and their own. Racial majorities ditto. It's rather silly to suggest that all members of any given group are good or bad. I was brought up to be tolerant of other's beliefs and abilities. That has always stood me in good stead and I won't change that even if I could.

I think it stands for "Anti-Fascist"...erm, League??

Funny about "skinheads", because I've always known that term as applying to 2tone artists (The Specials and the like).

Sleeper- I know that people of all colours and creeds are capable of murder, I'm just making the point that a tiny minority of racists use their views as an excuse to perpetrate violence against others up to and including murder.

In my experience it doesn't work like that. A bit of what you fancy when you're feeling low can help keep you going - toxic or not.

I am struggling to quit smoking. I gave up for three weeks a couple of months ago, but hit a downer again and needed something to give me a lift. Even though I usually feel like crap after a cigarette, having something, however small, to look forward to is sometimes necessary.

In the end, what makes me depressed is the truth, not cigarettes or beer. Of course tobacco is terrible stuff that accelerates the ageing process... But so do depression and anxiety.

(I do not recommend anyone take up smoking, incidentally. But alcohol in moderation I think is pretty harmless for most people.)

Incidentally, it's a common misconception that chemical depressants are so called because they make you depressed. It's not the case: "depress" in this context simply means "inhibit" and has the opposite sense of "stimulate".

The waters are muddied by the non-technical term "antidepressants" for serotonin-increasing drugs: in actual fact, antidepressants, like alcohol, depress the activity of the nervous system rather than increase it.

we have the culture we have because the "culturally inclusive" use violence and force to impose their views on others, you could see a good example of this in denazification at the end of world war two .

Where we jailed people, we starved them, we burned millions of books, we stopped people working if we thought they might believe in or support white nationalism or Nazism

http://www.zundelsite.org/victims/victims_of_zion.html
thats a short list of people jailed etc for holocaust revisionism or even defending or publishing holocaust revisionists

I think you could find a larger number of people who have been jailed for breaking anti racist laws set up to target people who disagree with multiculturalism .

anyway none of this surprises me its what people do, free speech pah

What I'm trying to say is all political systems use force or things like control of the media to get the society they want, your not free to believe what you want or write what you want even in your culturally inclusive paradise.

jonny2mad wrote:My former religion encouraged members to marry young and have lots of children because god wants us to multiply, quite a lot of religions are like that .

So unless your somewhere like communist china good luck with compelling people to have less children .
Not all religions encourage people to multiply. The Dalai Lama's response to a question about sex was "short term satisfaction, causes problems later. The world would be better off if more people were monks/nuns." Hardly "go forth and multiply", but then Buddhism fully incorporates the concept of balance in a way that most Abrahamic religion does not.

But what I really wanted to ask you is this:

It's true that a one child policy is politically unrealistic in any current-day democracy, but what do you think would happen if the Chinese government offered its people a referendum now on allowing two children instead of one? Do you think they'd vote overwhelmingly to get rid of the one child policy? Assume that the Chinese government would support keeping the one child policy. There would be freedom of speech for the opposition, but also the physical realities would be be spelled out clearly (no reason for the Chinese goverment to lie about it.)

I don't know the Chinese people might choose to keep the one child policy ,its possible they would its possible they wouldn't .

But I think its more likely as they have already had the policy for a number of years, we and the rest of the world haven't

I get that nexus but targeting a specific group for a general activity, good or bad, tends to lead to very unpleasant places.

What does that ridiculously vague statement actually mean?

Some here seem to be suggesting that liberals should be tolerant of literally everything, including racism and other forms of extremism. Meanwhile, the racists don't need to be tolerant of anything.

Bollocks to that. Intolerance is absolutely fine if it simply means standing up for what is right. And I don't classify murdering racists as right, before anyone accuses me of that.
