Air travel and security

Looks like a lot of aviation fuel is being saved this morning by the chaos at Heathrow. Seems the bad guys are winning. (Not quite sure just who the bad guys are though.)

I don't think the government know who the bad guys are either, after all it's all propaganda to further the phoney war on terror. Makes me sick.

Is this just an attempt to divert attention away from the continuing exploitation of the Middle East by Israel, the US and the UK at this critical time?

Good lord, I wish they'd hurry up with these ID Cards, I'd feel a hell of a lot safer with those being forced into everyone. And I bet those pesky Arabs are behind all this, with backing fro Iran no doubt.

Incidentally, does anyone know what happened to all the other "foiled terror plots" that have happened over the past 3 years and what became of the people involved, or did they all just fade off into the distance without another word being said, a route that no doubt the above is destined for...

It could of course be a ruse to try and cut down on more flights? We heard at the start of the week that more tax should be added to flights and now we'll have flights with ridiculously strict rules. Maybe another ban of 100- odd"unsafe" airlines, go all out to try and reduce 25% of current flights. That's quite a lot of fuel saving.

VERY interesting that this happened only yesterday:

...mind you, it could all be hype for "Snakes On A Plane" ;)

I think those arrested were released without charge when the media heat died down. I'm just not convinced of the magnitude of the threat terror. I'll wait and see how many of these 21 people arrested actually end up being tried, convicted and jailed. I expect none ? like virtually everyone else unfortunate enough to be arrested in this phoney 'war on terror'.

I think we need to remember that there has been one successful and
at least two failed islam inspired terror attacks based in the UK in recent
years. My opinion is that we have brought these on ourselves by our
foreign policy, but I would be not at all surprised if this was a genuinely
foiled attack. It is a sad reflection on our government that we are
automatically cynical about these events. The timing and the
magnitude are probably being played for maximum effect in a lead up
to a ME escalation of course...

And how many people died? A fraction of those killed on the roads or probably less putting on underpants!

It's all a complete farce...if this government was serious about ?defeating terror? they would have a good look at how we run our affairs across the world. Even the most brain dead person would understand that if you continually walk all over people they will want to respond. I feel like it sometimes and I'm not even involved.

In the last 8 months I have lost complete faith in anything that comes from this government. Between Bush and Blair I think they have just about given up on the pretence that we are do-gooders spreading democracy and are just getting on with their plans to reshape the ME safe in the knowledge nobody can really challenge them when the media is so totally under control.

Sounds like a group of al-Q'aida wannabees they've had under surveillance for some time. Now is just a good time to pop them up out of the hat in order to pump up the muslim-terrorist-fear-fear-fear factor.

Supports Blair position on allowing the Israelis time to destroy/occupy Lebanon in order to supress Hesbollah and possibly steal Lebanons land/water, and softens us up as far as accepting the next stage - the attack on Iran headed by Americas proxy, Israel. Also gets those dead Lebanese babies and howling mothers off the front page for a bit.

Just for one bloke? I doubt it.

Some interesting comments from a flying Imam.
Heathrow: what a difference a day makes

Its unfortunate that our Prime Minister values his 'special relationship' with America over and above the fact that the current US adminstration is headed by a gang of psychopaths. Ive never really understood this - whether it is due to blackmail, bribery or just Blairs personality disorder, Narcissism. Maybe a bit of each.

Hmm, I notice some disturbing paragraphs in there:
"While I am confident that the security services and police will guarantee 100% effort and 100% dedication, they cannot guarantee 100% success," he said, adding: "Our common security will only be assured by a common effort from all sections of society."

And the Home Secretary warned: "Sometimes we may have to modify some of our own freedoms in the short term, in order to prevent their misuse and abuse by those who oppose our fundamental values and would destroy all of our freedoms in the long term."
So we get spied on by the govt, and are encouraged to spy on each other. I wonder if not having a TV makes me a suspicious subversive to my neighbours?

No TV? How do you know what shampoo to use? And how do you get rid of those annoying stains? My god, weirdo!

My wife just told me that on PM, on radio 4, there were various people calling in to the programme to say that they didn't believe that there was a terrorist plot, but that it was a government stunt to legitimise the speech made yesterday by John Reid. Callers also thought that many of the alleged terrror plots that were averted were not real, as very few convictions arise from them.

Shampoo? What's that? Oh, and the annoying stains all blend in after a while - because once the TV is gone you forget you need to buy new clothes at least once a month.

Actually, to be honest, I'm afraid I do use a petrochemical-based shampoo, maybe I should try something like this: http://www.naturalfamilyonline.com/1-nb ... hampoo.htm
And I'm also embarrassed to say I have a bottle of stain remover, which is also probably petrochemical-based, though my excuse is that I bought it a few years ago, before I knew about Peak Oil... :D

I don't have a TV either. Which explains why I don't even know that I was supposed to use shampoo in the first place! Now, how many spoonfuls do you put in the teapot?

Great work! Now we will AT LAST se some honest court trials of some real terrorists, trials supported by solid police investigations and lots of solid evidence, along with charts describing the uncovered terrorist networks. I have been so annoyed by the complete lack of court trials this far, but now I'm sure that my cravings will be satisfied. I feel so relieved!

I'm still a bit annoyed over the mention of "liquid explosives" though, but it must just be a misunderstanding from the media. As chemist, I know of very few liquid explosives, and certainly no one I would like to carry around. The ones I know about are notorious for exploding upon being bumped a bit.

Anyone share my relif?

I was much relieved to hear one reporter on Radio 4 this morning describing the liquid explosives as being similar to the liquid explosives used on 7/7. Phew, I was getting worried that the propaganda machine had lost its momentum. Utter rubbish of course - can TATP come in liquid form?

And just to add to my diet of false terrorism and conspiracies, the official line is now that this is likely the work of Al Qieda or 'Middle Eastern fascists' as GW said earlier today.

I too can sleep better now knowing that our government is still trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Night night.
