It does not necessarily mean that the poor don't know what's going on, they're just unable to do anything about it except get shafted by a rich kleptocracy class, which clearly you identify with, especially given your use of the word 'plebs' to describe ordinary hard working people.
Nonsense.
My point, as the Guardian article notes and I have bolded for your attention, is that people do not think that there will be a default!
Many of the people who have cash in the Greek banking system will not be rich but they will have savings and if they have half a brain, should be converting that into gold, foreign currency and so on NOW when they still can.

The Tories are left wing?
yup think about the social programmes they keep the tax payer paying for, think about their actual immigration policy not what they tell the electors what they will do, what they actually do.
They bluster a bit on issues to confuse real conservatives but overall they are a socialist party .
They pander to the same minority's that they accuse labour of pandering too, you have politically correct laws being enforced under the conservatives same as labour .
No way are they a right wing or conservative party they play the part of being one thats all .

Correct me if I'm wrong on this in the UK.
When you are elected and take the oath of office you pledge to uphold and protect the law of the land. So until your party can change a law you are charged with enforcing the existing law that may have been passed over your objections. On issues with a split or close public support you may not get the repeal passed for years so are stuck administrating the other party's boondoggle. To see a party's true leanings look to what they introduce as new law and to what laws they try to repeal and the degree of follow through they apply to a bill. Some are put up just for show knowing full well they will die quietly. You can also look to the growth of government under an administration. Recently in the US both parties have let government grow by leaps and bounds so both parties are far left of a fiscally conservative American.
yup both of your party's are left wing too, and in the uk I haven't seen the conservatives repealing much that a conservative would wish to see repealed .
The Human Rights Act, some parts of Employment and Health & Safety law and the Police & Criminal Evidence Act for example .
Cameron said he was going to lower immigration for example to the 10s of thousands, but in fact its gone up and is in the hundreds of thousands

Here we see the fundamental contradiction in the right wing of politics. A free-marketeer (considered right wing) will want immigration as it is an influx of cheap labour. A nationalist (also considered right-wing) will want racial/cultural monotony.

How well do you know the Netherlands? The 'show windows' are concentrated into about three very small side streets near the centre of Amsterdam. It's hardly typical of the whole country. Other parts of the world tend to hide their sex industry under the carpet (or at least behind a curtain).
that people do not think that there will be a default!
From what I've read and seen I think most ordinary Greeks DO think there will be a default and are under no illusions-unlike the political class.

Well most commentators have said that there is a slow bank run going on in Greece, so this IS clearly what people are doing.

I have never been there. One daughter passed through a couple of times while in the service which is how I know about the beer for breakfast. I don't doubt that their red light district is a small part of their economy and was only pointing to the official tolerance of it as a liberal point of view.
I find the hypocrisy of declared conservative and moral countries having fully functioning houses of prostitution that are hidden behind a curtain and seldom if ever discovered by the authorities both amusing and sad.

Again, the Guardian article points out and quotes from a number of Greeks who think that a default is unthinkable and further more, can't comprehend the implications of a default.
This strikes me as a similar attitude that ordinary people have when I tell them of PO - they just don't and can't get it!
Regarding the bank run on Greece, only 25% of money has left Greek banks, that leaves 75% of money still in the banking system. Only the rich and elements of the middle classes (or what is left of the middle classes have done anything), everybody else is doing bugger all.
