Had one once, it was, edible, but nearly made me vomit.
How people eat several of them, the mind boggles.

Sounds absolutely horrid. I hope you didn't acquire any lasting ill effects while you were there.RenewableCandy wrote:Vt, I feel I owe you an explanation. Aurora's picture shows that well-known Glaswegian culinary speciality, the Deep-Fried Mars Bar.
Now, I used to live in Glasgow and at the time (2000-ish) people were FOREVER talking about the heath problems therein. Its a city whose East End has a male life expectancy at birth of 56, that's apparently worse than Gaza. The rest of Scotland isn't so bad, but...
The city had the lowest take-up of breastfeeding in the British Isles, the highest figures for child illnesses caused by damp housing, the lowest figures for eating fruit-and-veg (apocriphal tales of east-end kids who, on being offered samples of fruit for free, bit into oranges and bananas without knowing to peel them first). Highest rates for smoking. Highest rates for drinking (Buckfast was the juice of choice when we lived there). Highest number of teeth lost by children. Rickets was popular, particularly with any Islamic women who happened to make their way that far North: there are less than 1,000 hours of sunshine per year. More gets spent on health per Scot than per Sassenach, but in some ways Nature just conspires against them. I could go on...
However, for those of us prepared to take what health advice is on offer, it's the best place in the UK to start a family.
