I agree 100%!

The investment thing is an interesting point - with all the commentary about a forthcoming stock market crash, I was wondering whether to mention it to my dad and a friend of mine, who I've had discussions with about it before.

This friend of mine reckons I am a scaremonger, and that if the market dips that just means it is time to buy. My dad - well, I think he listens to what I have to say, but I doubt he would do anything radical with his portfolio, even though it's his pension really.

'Should I mention it to them?' I thought. In the end I decided to tell them that a lot of commentators are predicting a crash, and leave it at that. Then if there is a crash, they can't say, 'why didn't you warn us if you knew?'. But I'm not going to go on about it. After all, until it happens, however likely it may seem, it isn't fact but conjecture.

I told my brother about peak oil and he rolled about laughing. A few days later he went to see Mark Thomas, and the support act was Rob Newman ... ranting about Peak Oil. He got interested very quickly!

You guys have known me for a while on these boards and those on PO.com.

I am PO believer, but I must admit I am beginning to find the energy debate tiresome.
Ah. Board burn out.

You need a holiday. Take a break. Go away and either do something in the real world or find another board covering something else you are interested in. Give it a few months.

We'll still be here when you get back, re-invigorated and even more baffled than usual.

I mean. You wont miss much. Its not as if its the end of the world , is it?

Good advice, I went go karting at the weekend. Loads of fun and I almost managed to forget about peak oil for a few hours hanging out with the petrol heads!

Yeah I took the advice too - I went to the lakes for a week - and we had brilliant weather. Totally forgot about energy issues for a week , which was very nice!

I also went paintballing one weekend - I enjoyed it -but it dawned on me how crap I would be in the forces. I got blown away far too easily and quickly!
