SHOOTING IN STOCKWELL: Mark Whitby was at Stockwell Station and described seeing the shooting take place in a tube carriage. Speaking on News 24 he gave an account of the man that was shot:

"He had a baseball cap on, and er, he had quite a sort of thick, thickish coat - it was a coat you'd wear in winter, sort of like a padded jacket. Erm I don't know, he might have had something concealed under there, I don't know. But it looked sort of out of place in you know, with the sort of weather we've been having, the sort of hot humid weather. It looked quite out of place. He was large, largely built, he was quite sort of chubby sort of guy. I didn't see any guns any (inaudible) or anything like that - I didn't see him carrying anything. I didn't even see a bag to be quite honest."

Georgia Law was on the train at Stockwell station. She heard the shots, but didn't see the shooting. She told Victoria Derbyshire she lay on the floor of her carriage.

"I heard all these popping sounds, it sounded like gunshots, but quite quiet ones. And I could hear shouting, get down and people going run, run. I thought there was just someone shooting randomly. So I lay on the floor of the carriage and then I decided to get up and have a look out. And could see someone lying on the floor and police all standing around. But it was all quite panicky so I then ran up the platform and out of the tube".

Man shot in UK was involved in Thursday attack-Sky
LONDON, July 22 (Reuters) - A man shot by police at south London's Stockwell underground train station on Friday was one of the people involved in an attempted bombing in the city on Thursday, Sky television said citing a security source.
London's police confirmed they shot a man at the station but refused to comment on reports he was a suspected suicide bomber.

I dont want to be a cynic in any way, but all these deaths among perpetrators is getting very annoying.

It?s just a case of being practical. If you are going to convince some credulous fool to kill other people you might as well convince them to kill themselves; makes it harder for the police to find you.
The only future we have is the one we make!

Yeah, why kill him?

Presumably they'll say they suspected he was about to blow himself and the train up.

This might be true, but what might the alternative reasons be.....

(CUE: Police have shot a man dead at Stockwell tube station in South London. Eyewitnesses say he jumped a security barrier at the underground station and was pursued by plain clothes officers. One eye witness says officers fired five shots into the man as he entered a carriage. Crispin Black, who's a security expert says the police would only have fired if they were sure the man was dangerous - perhaps linked to yesterday's bombings. )

BAND Crispin BLACK (m) Police don't open fire for no reason. We are looking for four extremely dangerous men and it may be that the police have found one of them. Four men on the run, they can't just disappear into London and the police know where they started from so over the course of the day if not all of the four fugitives certainly two or three of them are likely to come to the attention of the police in some way.

OK, I'll abstain from further sceptic comments for another 5 weeks. Within that timeframe I expect the British police to have solved this completely. They have a tremendous reputation for efficiency and they should be able to solve this.

Okay, something I need to clarify - what's the status of the underground at the moment?

I hear it's somewhat chaotic...

You can shoot that linked theory full of holes if you want to, like so many 9/11 conpsiracy theories.

I know we had a ban on such off-peak-topics on 7/7 so I'm going to go back on that - this is Powerswitch after all, there are other forums for other subjects.

Generally my own personal view is this:
1) You can't totally seperate terrorism, geopolitics and Peak Oil
2) I'm not saying that I totally buy the official stories for 7/7, 911 or any of the other big-impact events - when you see what 911 enabled you can't help but ask questions about it.
3) Coming up with half-baked conspiracy theories distracts and disuades real investiagtion into the issues
4) Even with the web and gold-star UK journalists, us little people won't ever be able to know the real truth if the state wants it kept hidden (look at the volume of documents still top-secret from WW2)
5) We need to change what we can in our own lives on a practical level and try not to get too bogged down in the endless 1984-style theories, cos even if they are 100% true we can do very little about it other than we would do already for PO.
6) You can't wake up the masses to these subjects for all teh same reaons you cant wake them up to PO

Very well said fishertrop
Thank you
End of thread as far as I'm concerned (but not end of personal belief that I'll never know everything 'they' don't want me to know)

Agreed. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes but what's the point in blind speculation.
