The Tory Party Conference...

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Well he isn't, at least officially. He is smart enough to recognise that perhaps someone should be though.

So nobody close to government is allowed to talk about no-growth. It's left to NEF and Heinberg and other folk who can be safely ignored to shout into the wind.

I suppose if the no-growth meme escaped into the wild things could go awry quickly as confidence in BAU ebbed away. No government wants that to happen on their watch so they will put it off for as long as possible.

Of course not, if you talk about things the government of the day doesnt like, they cut your funding.

This isnt new, its just the government of today doesnt agree with you much anymore.

And there's the real problem, no alternative view, no discussion, just a load of nodding fools. Where is the man to whisper in the leader's ear 'You are just a mortal'?

I don't agree with you DJ on a lot but at least we could probabily have a decent discussion if we ever met :)

All reminds me of a tune / lyrics I wrote back in the 80's (oh god)

Rose coloured glasses
Optimistic specs
The worlds fall'round you
You're dang'ling by your neck

Things 'll get better
Your motto for the day...
Can't get much worse
Is what you ought to say

..... unfortunately they can get much worse
