Peak oil wedding list
Friends who have lived together for a while are to marry in the Autumn.
A church wedding is proposed, though not a grand affair.
They will be living off grid, and are already basicly equiped for so doing.
So what to put on the wedding list ?
The absence of mains electricity rules out many electrical appliances, and the fairly remote location rules out department store gift vouchers.
My suggestions include
PV modules, type to be specified.
Rutland 913 wind turbine
12 volt low energy light bulbs, LED or CFL
Bed sheets, single or double, all cotton.
Bath towels
Wool blankets, single or double.
Swiss army knives
Hand tools, either individual ones or sets.
Gardening tools
Laptop PC
Electric cable (2.5mm twin and earth)
Tilley lamp and/or spare parts.
Duplex oil lamp(s) or spare shades or chimneys.
All the above have been selected as still being useful even if received in multiple. Not many people want 4 toasters ! but 4 pairs of sheets, or 4 swiss army knives are useful.
Oil hurricane lamps are excluded from the general list because I will be giving them several.
Reference books though useful are not included as they have a good selection.
Any other suggestions ?

his and hers shotguns
although they would need to get the shotgun license themselves, anyway things of a defensive nature
you could get them a trip to do some clay pigeon shooting to try to ease them into it

Rocket stove is a possible future project, insulation already done.
Parafin, possibly, but durables rather than consumables are prefered for wedding gifts.
Thermals, they have loads.
The others are worth adding to the list

The father of the Bride has already provided these, and shooting lessons, and a hidden secure gun cupboard.jonny2mad wrote: his and hers shotguns
