What a sad effort. They really do take us for lobotomised monkeys, don't they.

Yet unfortunately that is what we are.Andy Hunt wrote:What a sad effort. They really do take us for lobotomised monkeys, don't they.
I'm currently staying with my parents. They both have PhDs. But when I said to them today why I thought this bin Laden story smelled funny, they got annoyed with me.
Most people, however intelligent, will believe anything rather than be a lone voice. If it weren't for this hugely powerful facet of human behaviour, the sheer amateurishness of our governments' attempts to hoodwink us would be acknowledged.
The fact is that governments don't need to be very thorough in covering their tracks. The herd instinct does most of the work.

I'm not too sure if you're actually serious or not.Andy Hunt wrote:What a sad effort. They really do take us for lobotomised monkeys, don't they.
While the picture is obviously a photo-shop job, is there anything to say this has been put out as the official version?
If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say this is a picture some amateur has knocked up, either today or even years ago, and it's now doing the rounds on forums and the like... it may take in the gullible or half-blind, but as far as I can tell, I've not seen it on any news outlets purporting to be the official pic. I don't think, at the time of writing this, any pics have been officially released.
For intelligent people, and most of us here are, to then claim we're being hoodwinked by an official conspiracy, based on this pic, is, erm.. to be worse than the gullible or half-blind.
Just my opinion though.
Learn to whittle now... we need a spaceship!
Just a bit of fun, I think, if you check Doomsday's second link. To my knowledge the picture was circulated a few years ago purporting to be evidence of bin Laden's death. So no, it isn't what we are being fed just now but it is what we have been expected to swallow in the past.
I think the sentiment of scepticism is what was intended to be conveyed here.

The possibility that crossed my mind was that they grabbed him, have him in custody someplace and are bleeding him of information, through torture extracting maximum intelligence, before destroying his corpse. Not a cheerful thought, but would give reason for the burial at sea number and no public expectation of a criminal trial at the Hague or whatever.
I doubt it, to be honest. There seems to be a fair bit of evidence that bin Laden died in 2001 or 2002, probably of kidney failure. This would IMO tie in with the lack of truly convincing video footage of him since then.leroy wrote:The possibility that crossed my mind was that they grabbed him, have him in custody someplace and are bleeding him of information, through torture extracting maximum intelligence, before destroying his corpse. David Ray Griffin has written a book about it and is interviewed here:

*This is the picture we've been discussingWithin two hours of the announcement that Osama Bin Laden was dead, internet criminals were in action and so was the security industry.
Johannes Ullrich, chief technical officer of the SANS Internet Storm Center posted a warning about the event shortly after the news was announced. So far everything looked quiet he said, although a couple of image servers were active.
"There are some image searches that return an image claiming to be an image of dead Bin Laden, but right now, none of the servers hosting it respond. Some of the sites return SQL errors indicating that the sites are receiving too much traffic," he wrote.
However, in less than two hours after the official announcement, sites started to appear claiming to have pictures of the corpse. One Spanish language site had a badly photoshopped picture of a dead Bin Laden*, with what purported to be a video of the body.

They probably got annoyed because it's conspiracy mongering, and that does tend to get up people's noses.Ludwig wrote:I'm currently staying with my parents. They both have PhDs. But when I said to them today why I thought this bin Laden story smelled funny, they got annoyed with me.
But the reverse is also true. Some people so enjoy being the lone wolf and the feeling of self importance that comes with that, that they will disbelieve any official statement simply to appear all iconoclastic and in possession of some secret knowledge. Most people, however intelligent, will believe anything rather than be a lone voice.
Oh piss off Caspian. I've looked at the evidence and there is much that doesn't stack up about it. You call it conspiracy mongering if you like, for me it's an‭ opinion.caspian wrote:They probably got annoyed because it's conspiracy mongering, and that does tend to get up people's noses.Ludwig wrote:I'm currently staying with my parents. Do you never question what the government or the MSM say? Do you never stand back and think independently? I know who I think is the gullible one.
That is not true of me. I don't enjoy being ridiculed for my opinions, and I don't claim to be in possession of secret knowledge. On the contrary, I am LESS certain of the truth than you would appear to be. I don't disbelieve any official statement, but I question official statements where (a) the facts don't appear to add up and (b) the government clearly has an interest in a particular slant on events being perpetuated. But the reverse is also true. You're the arrogant one, not me. But you can't see it: that's a feature of arrogance.
I'm just puzzled where you get your certainty that you are right. Or would you deny that it is certainty?

Of course it's not a law. I may as well ask where does the opposite 'law', the right to take another life, come from? Which viewpoint deserves to become law?Ludwig wrote:But where does this law come from?emordnilap wrote: Aye, funny-sad, not funny-haha. Very few are capable of realising, let alone accepting, no-one has a right to end another's life. That goes for O*ama too.

If he was long dead, why fly into Pakistan to an area near to military facilities, with a big risk of a major incident if they got shot down or captured? Surely they could have pretended to kill him in a remote cave, where there wouldn't be any major consequences if it went wrong.Ludwig wrote:I doubt it, to be honest.
