Qatari scientists develop 'clouds' for World Cup

Qatar have developed artificial clouds to provide shade for stadiums and training grounds at the 2022 World Cup.

Article continues ...
Qatar say they will air condition the stadia via solar power and now scientists at Qatar University have designed the 'cloud' which can be produced at a cost of US dollars 500,000 each.

So they are going to build ten state-of-the-art stadiums for the World Cup. This is in a country smaller than Cyprus. Yes, they've lost the plot, and so has FIFA.

I particularly liked the comment:
The extreme heat in summer months in the Middle Eastern country has led to concern about conditions at the tournament, with some suggesting it should be played in the winter.

I hate playing football when it's hot (or even warm). I overheat. Give me sleet and cold wind any day.

In view of how clearly unsuitable the place is for footy, does anyone think there may just possibly, could have perhaps been, any slightly questionable or even (technically) corrupt dealings during the bidding process?

Madness! All the effort and resources that go into the World Cup and the Olympics. I quite enjoy watching myself, but they could be put on for a fraction of the cost.

That said ... I can't help thinking of the Kate Bush/Donald Sutherland video: :D
