This looks likes misinformation to me. As I understand it the situation with iodine and radiation is that children are more at risk because their thyroids are still developing. The children therefore need more iodine and are likely to absorb more iodine from their environment. They are therefore given high-dose iodine tablets if there is a risk of exposure to radioactive iodine. Iodised salt doesn't contain enough iodine to make a difference? It might have enough to make a difference to an adult - just enough to make sure their bodies don't need any iodine. And it won't do any harm to a child.Aurora wrote:The Guardian - 17/03/11
