Fatih Birol says the unsayable
Radio 4 news at 6 and 7am carried a story of Fatih Birol's talk yesterday in which he said that there was no chance that we can stick below 2 degrees of global warming with the current policies being adopted around the world. Roger Harobin described it as saying the unsayable.

Bob Watson, Chief Scientific Adviser for Defra, said the same a couple of months ago.biffvernon wrote:Radio 4 news at 6 and 7am carried a story of Fatih Birol's talk yesterday in which he said that there was no chance that we can stick below 2 degrees of global warming with the current policies being adopted around the world. Urm emission control is an attempt at mitigation. Whilst +2C may be all certain, there is increasing degrees of freedom over +3, +4 and +5 degrees.DominicJ wrote:Who'da thunk it, all efforts to preserve the common [s]land[/s] air failed in trajedy.
Does this mean we can move onto the sensible options of trying to mitigate whatever the future may bring?
If only we'd not blown hundreds of billions of pounds already.
