Appreciation very much appreciated.
To answer your question Maudibe, both albums with a recording engineer mate of mine Andy in South London (though I pay him for his time as it's his job). He uses Logic Audio.
The arrangements are all mine; I play all the piano/keyboard things and hire string players and other musos to do the rest, tho Andy does any electric guitar stuff. The piano this time was recorded in a studio in Greenford owned by some sweet old chap who was really quite bonkers. Preferred the Bosendorfer at Dulwich College I used on Ascendant, to be honest, but it suited that album better, and in any case they'd put the price up sharply.
As I'm not that good a singer, I've gone down the producer route of getting others to do the honours for me. They're either friends of mine or friends of Andy. The vocalist on The USC Blues, Alexandra Howlett, is someone he's worked with a fair bit, and she's done quite a bit of professional jazz singing in her time. See http://www.anyswinggoes.org.uk/band/
She did contribute to my last album so I was very pleased to get her on board again. Seems I keep taking her out of her comfort zone tho: 'You want me to sing it like I'm some kind of Antichrist figure, with an American accent?' 'Yeah, something like that...' Oh, how we laughed!
Anyway, ramble ramble. Thanks again. Really. It's cool to get such positive feedback. If anyone knows anyone who's interested in doing video/animation work and wants some music to use, do point em my way. Very much open to things like that.
Am intending to do something myself with scrabble or bananagram tiles in the coming month, but it'll probably be quite basic!

Hopefully that should solve any audio problems.

(Only good for old-fashioned records though...)
I've got my classic Acoustic Research turntable for the old fashioned records end of the system .the_lyniezian wrote:You could always get one of these:

The thing is, how are you going to power it? (probably a stupid question, you lot probably all generate your own).
I just thought I'd mention the gramophone as it seems to be the only thing around that's reasonably new, and it doesn't just play 78s either! One wonders how you're going to get the bamboo for the needles if TSHTF- I know my mother grew ornamental bamboo but not sure if that's suitable!
As for me, I was using an old JVC system handed down from my aunts, and an old pair of Sony speakers off an old system we used to have. Until being a complete numpty I decided to change the stylus and couldn't manage to fit the new one on, and no-one else has managed either. As it is, it's sitting in the corner doing nothing and I can't play anything- annoying seeing as I've just bought a couple of records and not lstened to them yet! (Tapes and CDs not a problem though... there are other things for that.)
Had the daft idea of trying to tape everything so I could listen using batteries if the power went out- not done much though. Would probably be better to digitise as tapes wear out, but it's the bother of rigging something up to the computer...

Lynesian, I noticed while in my local electric-bits-emporium they still have a poster of all the different types of record styli under the glass-top of their counter. I jalouse that they might, therefore, still sell them. It's worth asking around. We have about 3 spares that I bought in a fit of Doom one day.
