Mine is white with the word "Advertisement" in it! I installed NoScript to stop all this advertising and other rubbish downloading over my painfully slow internet connection when I was travelling. Now it protects me from being seduced by consumerism .contadino wrote:I must be doing something right, as the advert spaces are just grey boxes.

It's bloody freezing here and there are power cuts all over the place but not in this house if I get out to clear the snow from the panels early enough.

I have a "wipe all cookies at the end of each sesh" order on my bruiser. Either it's not working or else I look at too many news-type sites (ever noticed how many car adverts there are on the News on telly? Or is it different in France?).hardworkinghippy wrote:The ads are determined by the cookies stored in your computer !This is all very well but it had an advert for a SUV next to it Shocked !!

Anyway, given that I have neither income nor "permis", they're on a loser there

This is an interesting interview if you can spare the the time and are prepared to listen with an unbiased mind. The interviewee used to be an AGW proponent.

And now he's a proponent of pseudoscientific claptrap. The current run of cold winters in Europe has nothing to do with AGW. "Our" warm atlantic air has not vanished; it has just gone somewhere else (southern europe and the greenland arctic.) This is actually likely to exacerbate the effects of AGW, because it means that when the next period of melting comes next year, the Greenland icesheet will start from a warmer temperature and it will therefore need less heating before it starts melting.snow hope wrote:Coldest December ever recorded in Ireland according to Met Eirann.

Excellent, thanks for posting, we had George in Manchester once and he was similarly excellent.

This article chimes well with my thoughts about advertising.JohnB wrote:Mine is white with the word "Advertisement" in it! My advice: totally ignore all advertising, use cash whenever possible. What advertisers who are shaking themselves out of the online-advert trance are discovering is that the data-mining advert Emperor has no clothes. The industry as it stands can't identify which clicks are fraudulent or accidental, which ads actually trigger a sale, or which ads actually alienate potential customers.
Also, the more something's advertised, the worse it must be.
