I've seen them in Ireland at funerals (not often) and they look way nicer than the usual disguised deal ones; willow is abundant here. Look here for instance. All sorts of materials!

Sort it with your will/missus/family etc, to respect your wishes regarding burial, as you would respect theirs.

I have never ever agreed with cremation. It's a pure waste of resources.

I'd rather be fed to those who have fed me. Unfortunately, it's not usual to be buried on one's own land.

I've got a basket maker living here, so that's one thing to tick off my to-do list :D.

Must investigate what the rules are on where you can be buried...

I've been saying for years that I'm going to quietly keel over among the cabbage plants when I'm 94, and I want my descendants to dig me a hole and plant a native apple tree.

My DS replied to this with 'Well, we're hiding the cabbage seeds when you're 93, then' - which charms me every time I think of it...

That will contaminate the water supply nicely. What a lovely legacy

I think you can be buried anywhere. More than two graves counts as a cemetery and would need planning permission.

Are you a much loved pet? I gather much loved pets can be buried at home.....

About wicker coffins, a friend of my mother's had one when she sadly left this world due to cancer. I thought the coffin was just grand, and certainly fitting to the lady's personality.

I don't want to leave unworkable preferances for when I go, but on the other hand if the main organiser of the event would prefer to say "It's what she would have wanted", then even if we'd never discussed said option before, then that's just a fine way around dissenting family members if required!

Why?

Dead bodies dont contaminate, they are taken car of by bacteria. The only contaminants might be the mercury in your teeth, if you have any.

The vultures mop up the road kill around here, and that includeds the humans

Dumping a dead cow in the wells as you retreated was a good way of stuffing anyway who was invading you, but yeah, I thought much the same, stuff dies all the time, other stuff eats it.
