The full facts:

Ireland's National Recovery Plan - 2011 to 2014:

http://www.budget.gov.ie/The%20National ... 1-2014.pdf

Key facts?

* 24,750 public sector job cuts

* 2.8bn euros of savings in social welfare spending

* 1.9bn euros to be raised from income tax changes

* 1 euro cut in the minimum wage to 7.65 euros an hour

* VAT rise from 21% to 22% in 2013, and to 24% in 2014

* the corporation tax rate remains unchanged at 12.5%

* a new "site value" property tax to raise 200 euros from most homeowners by 2014

The biggest joke?

BIFFO and Lenihan still expect their economy to average 2-2.5% growth in 2011 and 3.5-4.5% in 2012.

IMHO, it's now only a matter of time before Ireland sinks like the Titanic. :(

It is all rather crazy; these lads supposedly at the helm are, ahem, earning over €100 an hour and they're taking a euro an hour off the minimum wage. Now, tell me again how many jobs will that create? Be honest now.

As usual, these bullies are attacking the people least able to defend themselves. The banks, shareholders and bondholders don't bothered in any way by these plans.

In fairness, Ollie Rehn has stated that the bondholders should share the pain (we'll see but no holding of breath) but I'm still no wiser as to why banks have to be saved. If it were me, I'd just sell them all for a few euro and good riddance.

Why do we, in this tiny little country, need banks at all?

And for your delirious delectation, your unmitigated mirthful merriment, the first paragraph:
the deluded souls who put together The Notional Recovery Plan wrote:This Plan provides a blueprint for a return to sustainable growth in our economy. It sets out in detail the measures that will be taken to put our public finances in order. It identifies the areas of economic activity which will provide growth and employment in the next phase of our economic development. It specifies the reforms the Government will implement to accelerate growth in those key sectors.
Yes! Every word is there - 'sustainable', 'growth' 'employment', 'economic activity', 'accelerate', 'reforms'. You don't need to read the report at all, just the first paragraph.

WABOW.

There's something not quite right about the phrase, "a return to sustainable growth".

If it was sustainable before, why is there now a need to return to it?

Absolutely. A blueprint for a roadmap to an implementation strategy.

Consultation helps to create the vision.

You have to a have a vision, to set the goals you wish to achieve.

Then you can determine the strategy and plan the actions that will achieve the goals that form the vision. 8)
