Breaking news: Major gaffe from Gordon

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Many potential Labour voters may now vote for someone else.
Yep, it may mean UKIP/BNP pick up a seat or two that they wouldn't otherwise have done and it could tip a few more vulnerable labour seats into the hands of the libdems or tories. It showed a disconnect between Gordon Brown and normal labour voters. People are worried about immigration, I believe they are right to be worried, and the current rise of the BNP is purely being driven by the unwillingness of mainstream politicians to talk about it.

I doubt he would react like Brown did. He'd probably say something patronising.

What makes you think he has spoken to a real working person?

:) When the going gets tough, the tough turn into racists.

FFS, what's the fuss about.

You're all starting to sound like members of the gutter press banging on about this belligerent old biddy whose opinions aren't worth airing anyway.

Who cares what GB called her. Time to move on.

Just seen the incident on TV.

The lady seems quite decent to me ... unlike Brown.

Oh, yeah, like almost everyone else she was more worried about immigrants.
Unlike Gordon of course, for whom all those things are top priority.
What? Gordon's not worried about an immigrant taking his job? Fair dos though, Clegg is 2nd generation. :D

Having had the chance to sleep on the meeting with that Labour voter and the talk in the car immediately afterwards, I can only conclude that Brown is not just out of touch with the electorate, but more, a very nasty character.

Well, they would if it was worth their while coming off of benefits, but the minimum wage is so low that in many cases they are better off on the dole.

Why are people worried about immigration? Perhaps it is because England is the most heavily-populated country in Europe and nobody except the BNP is willing to talk seriously about it.

Why is this woman being called a bigot (by ANYBODY) for mentioning the word "immigration"? What did she actually say which was "bigoted"? Am I a bigot?

If I still lived in the land of my birth, I would be commenting that Brown IS an immigrant .

actually all 3 main parties are now proposing some pretty serious immigration controls. UKIP and BNP go further of course, each in their own way. The 3 main parties are not proposing to leave the EU, so under current free movement rules can't stop EU immigration, but the EU migrants come and go with the available work anyway.

in my view, immigration is far down the list of things to worry about.
