Norway-based electric car firm Think is in advance negotiations with the Greater London Authority and an unnamed distributor ahead of the UK launch of its city electric car later this year.

Speaking to BusinessGreen.com, company spokesman James Andrew said that the firm was confident it would launch the vehicle in the UK before the end of the year, beating the Nissan Leaf and Mini electric to market.

"If you want an electric car, as opposed to a quadricycle like the G-Wiz, it will be a choice between the Think City and the Tesla, which costs over £90,000, " he said.

The Think City is expected to be priced at around £20,000 after the government's proposed £5,000 electric car incentive is taken into account. However, Andrew said that the price premium over other small city vehicles would be negated by the reduced fuel costs and other incentives such as exemption from the London congestion charge.
