The Liberal Democrats have set out plans to reopen thousands of miles of railway tracks and stations
So...Dr Beeching reversed?
First we will re-open the old railway lines...and eventually we will transfer goods from the railways to the canals because the canals use less energy!
I can dream...
This is one of these rare policy proposals that made me sit up and take notice.
I've sometimes vaguely wondered about the LibDems, but in the end my attitude has always been "Frankly, my dear..."
Would be nice to see if they had an exhaustive list of 'regional railways' that they proposed to re-open. I think that the only one that the BBC quotes that's [just] on the right side of the Border

happens to run through one of the constituencies which they hold.
Give me a place to stand on and I will move the Earth.
