And if you think you've got problems ....
Across the UK there are about 500 certified installers of renewable energy equipment, compared with about 120,000 registered gas engineers, under the equivalent Gas Safe scheme, formerly known as Corgi.

“It’s hellishly complicated and expensive,” Schofield said. “You have to have a customer complaints procedure, health and safety documentation. For a one-man plumbing operation, they are just not interested.”
Utter drivel, I know some one who has just passed MCS and was told to simplify his procedures. "Remember your a two man operation you have your HS meetings in the Van on the way to work, not in a meeting at the end of the day"

We have seen an Increase in calls and sales, we certainly haven't had any customers walk away because of the lead time.

RenewableCandy call some MCS guys and get some quotes, keep us informed and lets see how easy (or not) it is.

The MCS scheme is pretty complicated. The manual is about an inch thick and you have to maintain very large number of forms.

At the same time the cost of MCS approved equipment (the cost of approval is estimated at £15,000/item) seems to have shot up.

To me it looks like an industry stitch up: barrier to entry by new installers and equipment.

Ask yourself this: why does electricity produced from an unapproved renewable energy source valued less than electricity from an approved source? The energy is the same, the impact of carbon footprint is the same. Customer rights are the same as well, being governed by consumer laws, not MCS.

I have ordered my wind turbine and on-grid inverter direct from China. It will cost me less than half of the MCS equivalent equipment, but the energy produced will be just as good as 'MCS approved energy'.

The quality arguments does not stand up either.
a) you have guarantees, just like any other equipment
b) even if it did fall apart, that would not devalue the energy produces thus far.

It's a scam, I tell you, it's a scam!
What a shame, seemed quite promising, this human species.
