US prices are once again the lowest. They are dragging other grades down on the spot market.

Brent is $73.87 spot price. The US demand is still falling, even as US stocks also fall.

There is a flight to the dollar again as the Euro looks weak on the back of Greece's debt downgrade.

Spiked back over $73 on a bullish US inventory report
(down by 12M barrels across all categories. Still 'above long term normal range') Partly due to bad weather in the gulf.

Also drooping dollar again. We are nearly 12 months from the recent price low, I think this is traditionally the low season for global oil demand.

This is probably driving the price up

In addition to declining US stocks, and normal supply/demand balance.

$81 and rising. We could beat the 2009 top price by the end of the day.

Happy new year.

Yes there's a lot of 'good' economic news about today, so demand for oil will pick up and the price will pick up...and we all know what happens then.
