Buffett's bought a train set

Our transport is heavily oil-based. What are the alternatives?

Snap, think we posted this at the same time (I've deleted).

Well, at least someone seems to believe in the economic future of the west and the US railroad.
Warren Buffett makes $44bn bet on US recovery with railroad deal

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has made a $44bn (£27bn) bet on the future of America's rail network in the biggest takeover ever for his company ... Mr Buffett, who is nicknamed the Sage of Omaha for delivering decades of superior returns to his investors, said that the deal is "an all-in wager on the economic future of the United States.”

I don't understand your evident obsession with Atlas Shrugged though I've never read the book.

I read a few pages of The Fountainhead in high school and thought it was awful and a waste of time.

You might want to read this:

Maybe Buffett wants to play at steam trains:
Warren Buffett's big railroad buy is also a huge bet on coal

You haven't read the book?

You've read just a few pages of a different book?

You've read an acidic review of the author - where the reviewer himself has received questionable reviews.

And I'm supposed to take your post seriously?

I just want to understand where you're coming from with the Atlas Shrugged references.

Nearest I've ever come to any of that is "We the Living", which I read 20 years ago and thought was OK. Now that I know a load of Russians perhaps I should re-read it.

I thought it was funny that The Fountainhead is in the film Dirty Dancing.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fountainhead
In the 1987 film Dirty Dancing, waiter and future medical student, Robbie Gould, uses the book to excuse his behavior toward the resort dance instructor, Penny Johnson, and his responsibility for getting her pregnant. He tells resort guest Frances "Baby" Houseman, that "some people count and some people don't." As he says this he pulls out a tattered paperback copy of "The Fountainhead" from his pocket, suggesting she read it. But he wants it back because he's written many notes in the margins.
I never come across copies in used bookstores.

Nothing about adding to his train set, but seems to believe American capitalism has a lot of steam left in it (as does Gates).
