Extreme commuting: How far would you go?
What sort of distance would you be prepared to travel to work – 10 miles, 20, 30? What about 300? With average journey lengths firmly on the rise, meet the extreme commuters who are on course to clock up more than a dozen circumnavigations of the globe by the time they retire

For me it'll be about 90 minutes and 25 miles. Work is work, glad to have any.

My office is next to the living room, and when working outside it is right on my doorstep.
People say things like "You are really lucky not having to put up with rush hour traffic" and the like.
Luck has sod all to do with it. I designed it that way. I hardly ever have to leave the property to earn a crust.
As far as I am concerned, if you have to commute, you need a better plan.

I was perfectly able to tele-commute at the one position because we had a team working in bangalore doing similar work (though lower down the totem pole than me). When I asked to work from home for a few weeks I was told that there was no work that could be done remotely.
I asked "how about our team in bangalore".
"Our position is we have no work that could be done remotely."
I reckon that higher up managers would have nothing to do if they couldn't invite people to meetings all day.

Once I got to Edmonton, longest commute to a drill rig from Edmonton Alberta was 1000 km.
