Hmm. 25 votes is a suprisingly low response for such a simple question. I would have expected maybe 30 to 40 votes after this length of time.

I got a reply from him re-iterating the government line then and now that the EIA say there is nothing to worry about before 2030, provided we invest a couple of tens of trillions in future oil production over the next 20 odd years.

I suppose I should repeat the process down here in Devon.
Why even bother?

All our political leaders know about Peak Oil. They also have plans for what to do about it, i.e. curtail civil rights and, when the time comes, join the US in fighting for what oil's left. I expect that there are also plans in the offing to convert as much land as is still available for agricultural use.

In the cold light of day, I think those plans make as much sense as any. The idea that a small country of 60 million spoilt people unable to tie their own shoelaces can undergo a smooth voluntary transition to a pre-industrial way of life is just fancy.

(Sorry, I'm feeling rather grumpy tonight.)
